The popularity ofHelldivers 2is not without its drawbacks. The game has been suffering from success as server loads run high trying to keep up with demand. While the issue was really bad a few weeks ago, Arrowhead Games is steadily working to makeHelldivers 2an accessible experience for everyone. Patch after patch has been released to address these issues, and the best one may have launched today that adds a feature that should help to lessen server loads and make it easier for active players to hop into a game.
Helldivers 2 Patch 1.000.11 Bring a Much-Needed Addition
One of the biggest issues withHelldivers 2was that it did not release with an auto-kick feature at launch. This contributed to the long queues of eager gamers awaiting their turn while some others may have been blissfully AFK, or maliciously holding onto their spot so they didn’t have to get back in line later. Some gamers log on early or don’t even switch off their games overnight, adding to the server count even though they are not active.
Patch 1.000.11is here to fix that. The patch note reads “Implemented a functionality that will kick players who remain idle for 15 minutes back to the title screen”. Now, 15 minutes may be too short a time limit. After all, things happen and people may have to step away from their screens but fully intend to return in under half an hour.

But it appears it’s a ‘desperate times call for desperate measures’ sort of scenario right now.Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Games, compared the new patch to the team fine-tuning a Vespa to compete in the F1 on his X channel.

An AFK timer is often used by live service games to ensure idle players don’t become a burden on the server and cause issues for others. It’s one thing to step away from the controller briefly, but leaving your system on for hours so you don’t have to deal with logging in again is unfair. But, it’s also understandable given the issuesHelldivers 2has faced so far. Hopefully, the new patch can fix this for everyone and eliminate the need to remain logged in.
Helldivers 2 Remains at the Top of Steam Sales Charts
Ever since its release, Helldivers 2 has dominated the charts, climbing over the likes ofHaloand evenPalworld. The co-op PvE shooter borrows a lot of its over-the-top action and explosions from the1997 classicStarship Troopers, so it must be a comfort game for many.
Add to that the fun missions and ability to team up with both friends and random people, and Arrowhead Games had a winning formula in hand. The only issues it faced were technical bugs and server issues. Patch 1.000.11 also has several other smaller fixes and improvements it brings to the game such as resolving crash triggers and issues with the Windows Firewall.
