Yesterday morning, developer Arrowhead Game Studios deployed update 1.000.203 forHelldivers 2. While thepatch notesdisclosed nothing more than a handful of bug fixes and stability improvements, there appears to have been oneincy wincylittle thing missed out of the changelog.
Shortly after the patch went live, players around the world quickly realised that this was more than just a simple bug-fix patch. In actuality, Arrowhead had surprised the community with a brand-new mission type. But you probably didn’t notice because you’re too busy torching Terminids instead of bringing the fight to the Automatons.

Helldivers 2’s New BR-14 Adjudicator Rifle Is Getting Absolutely Roasted By Players
Is this Helldivers 2’s worst weapon yet?
If you’re yet to jump into what is astrong contender for game of the year, Helldivers 2 revolves around a gigantic galactic war against Helldivers and two opposing factions, the Terminids and the Automatons (but these are often just referred to as bugs and robots). With a constantly evolving battlefield, players must complete new Major Ordersset by the almighty Joelto take down these ghastly enemies once and for all. If only it were that easy.

There’s a variety of mission types available in Helldivers 2, so while you work with players around the world to complete new Major Orders, you’ll never get bored of facing waves of enemies.
Helldivers 2 Adds New Mission Type
If you’ve read the latest Helldivers 2 patch notes, you were probably left feeling a little disappointed that there was no new content to check out. Well think again! Arrowhead is becoming well-known for surprising fellow Helldivers, and this time it’s with a new mission type.
Reddit user HellionBringerbrought attention to this sneaky addition over on the Helldivers subreddit. As seen in the post below, the new mission type is tied to Automaton regions only and requires players to locate and eliminate the Automaton Factory Strider.

If you’ve never encountered an Automaton Factory Strider before, you’re in for a treat. And by treat, I mean an absolutely horrific time. These gigantic walking factories are just as daunting as they seem. They have impenetrable armor and overpowered weapons that will make quick work of a Helldiver that isn’t prepared for battle.
Essentially, these are the Bile Titans of the Automatons. You’ll only find these new mission typesfrom level 4 and above, so if you plan on jumping into battle against the giant machines, make sure you’ve got your 500kg bombs and airstrikes at the ready.
