Where To Find Common Samples
Common Samples are scattered across the map at Points of Interest and enemy spawns.Against Automatons, look for rectangular,flat containers on the ground. When you’re fighting Terminids, the samples will stick out of the ground and look likebulbous plants. These samples can also be found at the entrance to Terminid bug holes.
These samples will be hard to come by at lower difficulties (1 to 4) because there are only a few of them on large maps.In higher difficulties, these common samples are easier to come by since there can be up to 40 on the map in Difficulty 9 missions.In those missions, you’ll find that each point of interest and enemy spawn location will typically have 3 - 5 common samples at times.
Where To Find Rare Samples
Similar to Common Samples,Rare Samples are usually located at Points of Interest, enemy spawn locations, and generally scattered across the map.At lower difficulties, these samples can also replace the spawns of medals, super credits, and requisition slips at bunkers and supply caches.
At higher difficulties, these samples become a little easier to find.Points of Interest will yield more of both samples, and more rare samples will be spread across the map and hidden against walls or on the ground.
These samples will usually look likesmall purple rocksfor both the bugs and automatons, making them fairly easy to spot on some planets.

Where To Find Super Samples
Super Uranium Samples are required for all Tier 3 ship upgrades and can only be found in Difficulty 7 or higher missions.At Difficulty 7, there will only be 3 Super Uranium Samples on the map, while at difficulty 9, there will be up to 6 Super samples.
To find these samples, you’ll have to look for a large, bulbous silver rock.If you open your minimap, it’ll have a distinct silvery shape that looks like a large boulder next to a smaller one. It’ll take some practice, but once you know what shape to look for, it’ll be much easier to find it in the future. When you move your cursor over it, it should label it as a “minor place of interest.” At the base of this rock will be all the Super Samples on the map.
