Bryan Cranston, however, left a very distinct memory on his co-star, Aaron Paul, with his hilariously mischievous pranks. It’s no wonder, though, that he might have been channeling his onscreen character, Walter White.

While attending an event withTimesTalksin 2013, the cast ofBreaking Badshared their own stories about their journeys in the show as well as what fans could expect from the final season.Aaron Paul, who starred as Jesse Pinkman, revealed that his co-starBryan Cranstonused to pull pranks on him.
“Bryan would mess with me throughout the entire series,” he recalled. “I remember halfway through the second season, Bryan came up to me with such a serious look on his face and gave me this big hug,” the actor continued. Cranston then asked him if he had read the script for the next episode of the show while still looking very devastated. When Paul replied in the negative, Cranston urged him to give it a read. “He looks at me, and he gives me another hug, and says, ‘Just read it, it’s fine,’ and he just walks off.”

This has got Paul feeling dumbfounded and anxious at the same time. His initial reaction was that Jesse Pinkman would die in the next chapter, so he would promptly get the script and read it thoroughly. In the end, he realized that “he was just lying, messing with me.”

Cranston’s harmless and hilarious prank on his co-star certainly proves he’s got that inner Walter White in him, the hero of the story turned villain of the franchise. In this case, it was just fun-spirited mischievous antics that also exhibited the deep bond between Cranston and Paul as co-stars and as real-life friends.

Cranston shared more of this funny prank in his interview onThe Graham Norton Show. He revealed thatJesse Pinkmanwas only planned to be in Season 1 as his character’s introduction to street-level drug dealing, so the character was supposed to die in the fourth or fifth episode. Obviously, they kept him as he became a crowd favorite because of Paul’s chemistry with Cranston.
