It’s nearly impossible to imagine anyone other than Bale as Patrick Bateman, but fans believe there’s an actor who can pull it off. Now, with talks of a remake ofAmerican Psychounderway, it’s Tom Holland who is receiving strong backing from fans to play the lead role.

According to ever-reliable industry insider,@TheInsneider, Lionsgate is diving headfirst into the modern-day remakes with none other thanAmerican Psycho.

People genuinely believe thatTom Hollandcould convincingly play the role of Patrick Bateman. They think it could help change the perception some have of him as just a nerdy 17-year-old. Check out the post that said so:

In 2021, Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs confirmed a TV adaptation of the cult classic film is in development. Though he did not provide many details. Here’s what he said in an interview withDeadline:

“We’ve just wrapped up Dear White People which was a really good experience, Blindspotting is coming up, American Psycho is in development. We’re always exploring what we can do in television with something like the Saw franchise, so that’s a conversation.”

Sneider might also be referring to a TV adaptation only. Regardless of whether it’s confirmed or not, fans aren’t too keen on the idea of a remake.

Though this isn’t the first time. Audiences also didn’t like the movieAmerican Psycho 2, starring Michael Kremko as Patrick Bateman, which came out in 2002.

So, it’s clear – Patrick Bateman fans don’t like movies trying to piggyback on the original’s success. Per them, it might not be worth the effort to associate with it.
