He shared that he always wanted to be a real man and idolized the likes of JFK, Muhammad Ali,Sean Connery, and Howard Cosell. He added that he could never grow up as he was a comedian and missed the dominant masculinity. Seinfeld shared that he understood the toxicity behind the concept but still liked being a real man. The comedian shared onHonestly with Bari Weiss:
Another thing, as a man… I always wanted to be a real man. When I was in that era, it was JFK, Muhammad Ali, Sean Connery, Howard Cosell. That’s a real man! I wanted to be like that someday. Well, no. I never really grew up. You don’t want to as a comedian because it’s a childish pursuit. I miss a dominant masculinity. I get the toxic thing… but still, I like a real man.
Seinfeld also complained that the present day had no sense of hierarchy like the 1960s. He shared that the ’60s were attractive due to this factor hierarchy, which allegedly made humans feel really comfortable in their position. He shared on the podcast:
We have no sense of hierarchy. As humans, we don’t really feel comfortable with that. That is part of what…if you want to talk about nostalgia, that is part of what makes [the 1960s] attractive looking back.
He also talked about thenegative reviewsfor his movie,Unfrosted. He shared that he didn’t care about the reception and revealed he wanted to read the negative critical reviews as he found them to be funny.Unfrostedreceived a rotten 43% critical score onRotten Tomatoesand a 51% audience score.
