The sales ofAtelier Ryzamight be setting off a new record for theAtelierseries soon. Via their official Twitter,Atelierseries' studio Gust officially announced on February 14 thatAtelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideoutsold over 350,000 copies worldwide. Mel Kishida, the character designer of theAtelier Arlandgames:Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori, Atelier Meruru, and the recentAtelier Lulua, also shared an illustration of Ryza:
As a side note, Gust also asked people on Twitter whether they clearedAtelier Ryzaor not:
Here are the results as of now:Â Out of the 11,510 votes, 45.5% answered they cleared Atelier Ryza, 13.6% are currently playing it, 17.6% played it, 23.2% didn’t buy it. This is pretty interesting data, but should be taken with a grain of salt seeing it’s a simple Twitter poll.
According to Takashi Mochizuki,Koei Tecmo technically already announced at the end of January 2020 thatAtelier Ryzasold over 350,000 copies worldwide, and that the game has a high chance of becoming the highest sellingAteliergame ever, surpassingAtelier Sophie’s 370,000 copies. Seeing that was a few weeks ago, it’s highly likely the sales forAtelier Ryzawill soon or have already surpassedAtelier Sophie.
If you’re wondering whyAtelier Ryzais selling this much, in my opinion, it’s a mix of multiple factors, and this success shouldn’t be solely attributed to Ryza’s Zettai Ryouiki becoming a sensation on social media. Or else, many other Japanese games with popular character designs would be enjoying much higher sales. We explained all that in detail in a dedicated editorial.
Koei Tecmo Producer Keisuke Kikuchi already mentioned in late 2019 that a newAteliergame is currently in development at Gust, along withFairy TailRPG and three other unannounced games.Atelierseries Producer Junzo Hosoi alsoconfirmed Ryza will make an appearance in the next game.He also spoke about thefuture of theAtelierseries. As you probably already know, theAtelierseries' games have been working as trilogies for over a decade now. Taking all this into consideration, it’s highly likely the two nextAteliergames will form a trilogy withAtelier Ryzaand will be set in the same world.
The upcomingFairy TailRPG,Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV,Dead or Alive 6, andDead or Alive Xreme Venus Vacationall include collabs withAtelier Ryza. In the past, we also covered an interview with Toridamono, where he revealed prototype designs forAtelier Ryza.
Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideoutis available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
