If you’ve ever wanted to slay a king, grab your weapon of choice, gear up in your best armor, and prepare to go to war with the Termite King. You’ll be well on your way to lopping off a monarch’s head when you head out to engage with this dastardly foe.

To an average person, this may sound bizarre. When you’re trapped being small enough to ride a Ladybug like a Shetland Pony, it makes a lot of sense to bring down one member of the royal bug family. Players ofGroundedknow what it’s like.
Gearing Up
Battle preparation is the key to victory in any fight or game. Failing to do so will result in your enemy gaining the upper hand while you flail about before being beaten. Getting ready to take on the King isn’t the only task you have. There is a slew of soldiers between you and the Termite King.
All versions of the wood-eating bug are weak to Salty attacks so a salt-laced weapon is the best option. One may think the Salt Morningstar is the way to go, but not so fast. The Salt Morningstar only deals generic damage, so players will get no added buffs as Termites are all weak to Stabbing damage. In the same vein, they are resistant to slashing damage, so getting a slashing weapon with a salt augment won’t help. The ideal weapon for the most damage you can deal is a Crossbow equipped with Salt Arrows. Taking the Morningstar isn’t a bad backup, though.

Termites in any form are considered Tier 3 enemies, and a player should grab the appropriate armor level. Many options have varying stat buffs, but this is more determined by individual play-style more than anything. Black Ox Armor can be good to get off stuns with weapons that can stop you from being swarmed in the tunnels. Roly Poly Armor can help with blocking enemy attacks. It all just depends on what sits comfortably on your shoulders.

Lastly, a tool is needed. Now, this is where things get a little redundant. The tool needed to get to the Termite King is a Tier 3 axe that can cut through some parts of the Wood Pile Splinters. Gamers acquire this by fighting Termites to make a Termite Axe. You have to fight Termites to gain an item that will let you fight more Termites to get to the Termite King who will summon more Termites to fight. That’s a lot of Termites.
Getting to the King
The Termite King is like all nobles. Hiding deep within his ‘castle’ tunnels and behind his subjects. That means that to get an audience with this giant wood-muncher fighting through waves of enemies in winding tunnels is necessary. He resides in a cave underneath the Wood Pile. Once kitted out with the necessary gear, head into the Wood Pile near the bike, and begin your descent into the lion’s den. Just remember that axe to cut away some areas that you’ll have to press on through.
Along this pathway, players will encounter many Termites and Termite Soldiers. Termites have a spit attack that does acid damage, but the Soldiers do not. Soldiers are, however, the stronger of the two opponents. Like the Termite King, both servants are weak to Salt attacks but will resist Fresh Attacks. They also hold a Spicy resistance unlike their ruler, so maybe there is something to those statements about a weak noble stomach.

Termites hunt in groups more often than they are seen alone, and that is when they are at their strongest. Kiting individuals away may take time, but it is a good strategy to make going down through the Termite Den easier. If you end up stuck with a party, be patient and keep a strong guard going. Dodge any acid spit at a player but watch where it lands as that means there is now a pool of acid waiting for you to walk over.
Not-a-Boss Fight
Once you’ve made your way to the King’s Chamber, it’s time to take on an average opponent. That’s right. This Royal is nothing more than a fake. Well, he is still the Termite King, but he isn’t a boss. He’s a Tier 3 enemy.

There’s not much to this strong opponent. Most of the attacks can be side-stepped, but he will summon Termites which means more acid. Make sure you handle them first to avoid being blindsided by a late-hit acid attack. Surprisingly no Termite Soldiers will come to their King’s aide, so that’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about.
The King’s health bar may be intimidating, but for the most part, his attacks aren’t something out of this world. He has one stun that needs a perfect block to prevent being caught up in it. Miss the timing on it, and that will result in a massive stun. Patterning out his bite attacks is easy enough once his subjects have fallen, but if they’re still up and a gamer gets stunned, there’s a lot of damage coming your way. He doesn’t kick up any dirt, nor does the King have a spit attack. Just watch his bite patterns that mimic the smaller ones.

After defeating this imposter boss, and securing the chip he initially guards, the player can farm the King. He has no unique drops that set him apart from his easier-to-kill counterparts, so there is no real point for this other than bragging rights.
