Ubisoft has not begun the year in the best way possible after the failure ofSkull and Bones, which was immediately forgotten after it launched. Today, the company announced the development ofxDefiant, a first-person shooter set for release later this month.

The new rival of Call of Duty is xDefiant releasing on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.

This title has the potential to attract some players fromCall of Duty, given Activision Blizzard’s lackluster player support. This IP is an FPS based on abilities in close encounter matches. The game will have five different factions to choose from, each with different features.

Later this Month, Ubisoft Will Finally Officially Launch XDefiant

Announced back in 2021, this FPS showcased factions facing each other with different abilities and perks that almost becamexDefiantin a sort of hero shooter. ThisModern Warfare-like title has short but fast matches with two teams of four members. Ubisoft has finally confirmed the release date for this game, which will be available later this month with a lot of content from the get-go.

This Can Be the Success That Skull and Bones Was Not, With Call of Duty Vibes

xDefiantwill include 14 different maps, five factions, five modes of play, and much more content. The modes are: Domination, Hot Shot, Occupy, Escort, and Zone Control. In the future, Ubisoft expects to launch after a six-week preseason with a lot of content that will be renewed every three months, new weapons, maps, and even four more factions. The game will be released on May 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This has the possibility of becoming a great action title that could give FPS fans a new option to choose from when leaving other current games that are not so diverse anymore.

The reaction on social media is pretty positive; some users really think that the game has the potential to offer a great gaming experience. While others simply dislike the fact that the game will not be available for the previous console generation, it is a little weird that Ubisoft announced the release just twenty days earlier. In the current industry situation, where lesser games have thrived, everything can happen.

After Skull and Bones failure, xDefiant will be available May 21.

I’m a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
