Hrist and Mist are no joke. This is one of thelonger fights in the gameand takes place in one of thecoolest locationswe’ve seen. This fight containsthree phases. Each phase will present new challenges for Kratos and Atreus to face. If you’ve come here looking for tips and tricks on how to beat Hrist and Mist, you’re in the right place.

Phase One: Flight Of The Valkyries

During this stage of the fight, it’s okay to take things a little slow. You’ll need to adjust to fighting two powerful enemies and juggling their attacks. You won’t, however, have to juggle their health bars, which is great. When you damage one Valkyrie, you damage both of them, so they will lose health evenly. This makes thing pretty manageable as you can feel free to attack whichever Valkyrie is closest to you at any point.

Mist’s Spinning Strike

Mist has an absolutelysavage spinning strikethat will hit you again and again and again. The good news is that it’s a perfectly normal attack that you can block with your shield. However, you have to be quick enough to get your shield up before the first strike. As soon as you see her moving in, get that shield up, or you’ll suffer through the entire attack.

Blue Ringed Attacks

Hrist has a blue ringed move where she will use her wings as protection. Any normal attack you try will bounce off, and she’ll punish you for it.However, you can double tap L1 to use your shield slam, which interrupts blue ringed attacks like this one.

Yellow Ringed Attacks

Hrist has a couple of yellow ringed attacks to watch out for. When she’s in the air and far away, you might see a yellow ring – that means she’s about to charge. The other one will be while she’s up close. This attack will see her leap into the air with her weapon and slam it down. Remember thatyellow ringed attackscan break your block, so theymust be parried or dodged. A well-timed parry is best in both scenarios, as it leaves you some room to counterattack.

Red Ringed Attacks

Mist is the queen of the red ring and will either throw a projectile at you or charge in for a strike.Remember that the only answer for red ringed attacks is to dodge out of the way.

Healing Before The Next Phase

Once you’ve taken out their health, Hrist and Mist will retreat into beams of blue light. There’sno way to interruptthis move. They will heal up their health bars, and you’ll begin the next phase of the fight. If you fail in phase two, you will not have to repeat phase one.Whichever phase you die in is where you’ll restart with a full bar of health. Don’t worry about having to repeat the entirety of the fight.

Phase Two: Double Trouble

This phase is going to betougherthan the last one. In addition to their previous attacks,Hrist and Mist will begin mixing in some new tricks. Some of these are meant to throw you off balance while others are meant to deal significant damage. You’ll need to be on your toes during this stage of the fight.

Saving Atreus

While you’re fighting one Valkyrie, the other will sometimes grab Atreus. In these moments, you’ll need to run over and strike the Valkyrie as soon as possible, causing her to drop Atreus. If you don’t do this quickly enough, you will have to restart at the beginning of the phase.

Grab Attacks Hurt

Occasionally, the Valkyries will perform red ringed charges that result in a grab attack. These attacks will throw Kratos into the air before slamming him back to the ground. This attack deals significant damage and should be avoided at all costs– though it does look incredible.

Avoid Area Attack

The duo will sometimes perform a red ringed move that triggers an area-of-effect attack. The ground will glow red to indicate where they’re going to strike, and you’ll want to get out the way as quickly as possible. When the attack is over, Hrist will usually follow up by charging you with a yellow ringed attack.

Blade & Stone Projectiles

Hrist and Mist will sometimes retreat to the end of the arena.Mist will throw a series of knives that can be blocked or dodged, while Hrist prepares to throw an enormous, red-ringed rock at Kratos.Since it has a red ring, the only answer here is tododge awayfrom it.

Once you get their health bars down again, the Valkyries will perform the same heal that you witnessed at the end of Phase One.This time, it will trigger the third and final phase of the fight.

Phase Three: Unleashing Fury

This phase of the fight is similar to the previous phase, though you might notice that the Valkyries have a new attack and are a bit more aggressive. If you happen to have a good pool of rage available, you might consider using it to speed up this phase and get to the finish more quickly. If you don’t, there’s no need to worry – you just have to keep doing what you’ve been doing, and you’ll succeed.

The Double Red Ring

The Valkyries will retreat into the air and position themselves next to one another.Next, you’ll see both of them trigger a red ring, meaning they’re about to attack simultaneously.Stay on the move and dodge roll as soon as they begin to charge in, and you should avoid this vicious assault.

Trigger The Takedown

Once you’ve taken down their health for a third time, Hrist and Mist will be stunned with the prompt to hit R3.Run up to them, hit the button, and trigger the final takedown.

Quicktime Event To Finish The Job

Unlike most takedowns, this one will trigger a quicktime event, meaning you’ll need to follow the button prompts to successfully finish off the Valkyries. That’s it! You’ve reached the end of the fight. Enjoy the cinematic and continue on your journey!
