The immediate response to thePlayStation 5 Prowasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, which is fair considering the abysmal number offirst-party titles on the base consolein the first place.
Don’t get me wrong—I prefer playing cozily on my PS5 over my fairly powerful PC,but when I saw the PS5 Pro on release, it left a sour taste in my mouth because, well, what game am I playing on it to notice the difference?

9 Most Overrated Video Game Consoles
Although they may have been wildly successful, these overrated video game consoles haven’t necessarily stood the test of time.
That said, I’ve prepared a list of10 games that justify buying a PS5 Pro. Hopefully, this will give you your money’s worth on the upgrade, and I actually prefer to play these on the Pro myself for their noticeable benefits.

10Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
One Of The Best RPGs of 2025
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2is a game that I much prefer to play on my PC, but since that’s a subjective opinion, I will, however, stand by and say that it is best enjoyed at its highest visual quality.
The game runs smoothly on the base PS5, but on the Pro, KCD2 combines Performance and Quality modes in one settingto allow for an upscaled 2160p resolution at a 60FPS framerate.

It’s on the bottom here because you’re not missing anything else besides the upscaled 4K resolution. Furthermore, hardly any noticeable bugs or glitches hinder the overall game quality on the base PS5.
So, if you’re in the mood to experience atrue RPG title that improves upon the original, is universally praised and provides you with the highest amount of freedom in gameplay, give KCD2 a shot, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

9Black Myth: Wukong
Forge a Legend In Style
Black Myth: Wukong
Game Science had an awe-inspiring release withBlack Myth: Wukong, becoming one of the most popular action games of 2024 and having an all-time peak concurrent player base on Steam.
While the game is arguably a resounding success, what about its visual quality and performance? Yeah, not so much. Don’t get it wrong; it’s incredibly fun to play, but even now, it’s plagued with some graphical issues.

The base PS5 version was notorious for having an incredibly blurry image quality, and it didn’t help that they later implemented poor upscaling tech that made some environmental textures look muddier than before.
The PS5 Pro doesn’t really iron out those issues, but it makes the game vastly cleaner. This makes the justification for Wukong on the Pro slightly debatable, which is why I’ve put it at the bottom of my list.
If you ask me, those image clarity issues are only noticeable at first glance, but I wouldn’t blame you if you got annoyed by that hideous frame-gen tech they used to smooth things out on both the base PS5 and Pro.
8Stellar Blade
Eve Looks Beautiful Than Ever
Stellar Blade
Despite what many may acclaim, I enjoyed my time withStellar Blade, especially because some parts reminded me of gritty, old-school action RPGs from the PS3 era.
Let it be clear that Stellar Blade still looks and performs silky smooth on the base PS5, but if you’re looking to refine the presentation, the PS5 Pro shines in that department here.
There are many options, but the best one is thenew Pro Mode, which offers the best of both performance and quality:clearer distance imagery, sharper visuals, and a locked 60FPS framerate.
If you’re sporting a high refresh rate display, turn on the unlocked framerate option for additional smoothness.
The 10 Best PlayStation Exclusives On The PS5, Ranked
PlayStation offers a massive library of spectacular games, but these are some of the best exclusives PS5 has to offer.
7Spider-Man 2
Insomniac Are Technological Wizards
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
I’ll say upfront that I wasn’t the biggest fan ofSpider-Man 2past its honeymoon period; the story felt rushed and poorly paced, but hey, I still enjoyed my time with it.
Moreover,Insomniachas never failed to create their games with such stunning and impressive detail, much like Sony’s other first-party studios, likeNaughty DogandSanta Monica.
Excluding the recent controversies regarding the PC port, Spider-Man 2 received some fantastic enhancements for the PS5 Pro,most notably its Performance Pro mode, which offers the benefits of the base Fidelity mode at a locked 60FPS framerate.
This means you’re getting that sharp 4K resolution with the standard ray-tracing features enabled. But if you want, you may use Fidelity Pro mode and adjust some RT options to maximize your framerate, especially on a VRR display.
It makes the game deserving of another playthrough solely because Insomniac managed to harness the processing power of the PS5 Pro to its full extent,a feat that’s also noticeable in their other titles, likeRatchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
6Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Cal Kestis & BD-1’s Deserved Makeover
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
As someone who adoredtheprevious game,Jedi Survivorturned out to be a great sequel that was ultimately held back by its hideous performance issues and bugs.
Thankfully, the game’s overall quality improved with numerous updates. But what helped the game more recently was its official PS5 Pro patch, primarily thanks to the console’s exclusive PSSR technology.
Now, while it does make everything much more visually impressive, there are still issues that make the experience far from perfect, noticeable thanks to afantastic deep dive from the creative minds at Digital Foundry.
Still, keep in mind these issues are only noticeable when focusing on the exact pixels while motionless. And you’ll be playing on the latest patch anyway, which improves the flickering and rendering issues from a while back.
Besides that, the Pro offers increased resolution in both quality and performance modes, with the former now targeting a 2160 resolution from 1800p, so this is the best possible version to experience Cal and BD-1’s new journey.
5Grand Theft Auto 6
The Biggest Hype of this Generation
I know it’s technically unconfirmed whether it’s coming this year or next, but despite not being released yet,GTA 6is a game that will undoubtedly benefit from the PlayStation 5 Pro’s power.
The game itself has become one of the most anticipated titles in the entire industry. If it seemingly crosses the boundary set byRed Dead Redemption 2. We’re looking atRockstar’smost immersive video games yet.
Majority of Fans Think GTA 6 Is Coming Next Year
Most gamers think Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t meet its targeted Fall 2025 release window, and will instead ship in 2026.
Everyone’s hoping and praying that it runs just as smoothly on the base PS5 without sacrificing either performance or resolution for the other, but just to be safe, the PS5 Pro is a worthwhile gamble.
Many developers are taking advantage of the Pro’s PSSR tech, and with Rockstar looking to make it big, they’ll definitely provide exclusive enhancements for players who jump into GTA 6 for the PS5 Pro.
4Dragon’s Dogma 2
Needed More Time in the Oven
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2had its fair share of highlights but suffered from many other issues, the biggest of which were the performance issues on both PC and console.
On the base PS5, it felt like the cheapestCapcomtitle to date. The game ran poorly in performance mode and had a horrendous resolution, making the whole thing feel like a slop fest.
However, it’s safe to say it is easily worth picking up again on the Pro because, with the recent patches since the initial Pro update, the game runs and looks flawless in both graphical modes.
The consensus is that using Balanced Mode on a VRR-supported display with HFR enabledis the best bang for your buck. But don’t expect the framerate to be completely stable; you’ll still get those occasional dips during intensive areas.
But overall, does this game warrant the justification of purchasing the Pro? Definitely. Despite some glaring issues, you’re still getting an experience that’s largely better than the base PS5 and one of the rare games that benefits from the PSSR tech of the Pro.
3Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Almost Like a Different Game
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
AC Shadowsunexpectedly shattered expectations, becoming one of the most successful games in the series despite what many may want you to assume about it online.
And here’s the bit that makes it such a justifiable title to play on the Pro:Shadowsuses completely different lighting and RT tech for the Quality Mode setting. You’d be almost surprised, just like me, by the night-and-day difference here.
The Ray-Traced Global Illumination on Ubisoft’s Anvil Engineis the best we’ve ever seen, with someeven calling it one of the best reasons to get this on the Pro.And I don’t blame them. 60FPS with RTGI? I’ll make that deal in a heartbeat.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Should You Play As Yasuke Or Naoe?
Two opposing and unique playstyles.
I even had to take a couple of screenshots to test out the lighting and shadow quality differences, and they weren’t kidding. In some places, the game looks better thanSucker Punch’sGhost of Tsushima, which is insane.
If you want further proof, Digital Foundry has covered most of the intricate details. Still, the obvious comparisons are clearly noticeable in their initial discussions and warrant this game’s experience to be best enjoyed on the PS5 Pro.
2Monster Hunter Wilds
The Best Way To Play It On Console
Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wildshad me obsessed with it last month, making me spend over 100+ hours in my playthrough. It’s fun and addicting, but more importantly, it boasts the most cutting-edge graphics in the series yet.
That’s all thanks to Capcom’s ingenious RE Engine, which continues to evolve. But that evolution came with a cost. The game does cut some corners to optimize performance on PCs and consoles.
With the two graphical modes and a balanced option, you’re either getting a crisp resolution or a stable framerate, the latter of which I find better for a game likeMonster Hunter.
Monster Hunter Wilds Review
Monster Hunter Wilds is an evolution for the series and the best Monster Hunter game to date.
However, I’d be doing the game’s visual splendor injustice if I didn’t mention how delicately designed the environmental details are in Quality Mode, from the lush greenery of Scarlet Forest to the barren landscapes of Wyveria.
They’re all only praise-worthy in that graphical setting because, otherwise, the draw distance and textures are jagged, and the image quality looks washed out in the Base Performance Mode.
The PS5 Pro’s Performance mode heavily resolves those issues, resulting in a cleaner overall imageof the geometry and models while boosting your framerate if it drops during intense situations.
Again, it’s one of those rare moments when Sony’s PSSR upscaling tech actually improves the graphical presentation, makingWildsan absolute must-play on the Pro, even for me personally.
1Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Desperately Needed That Polish
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Despite that controversial ending,Final Fantasy VII Rebirthstill became one of my favorite games of the past year, thanks to its encapsulating open-world design, rich soundtrack, and adoring cast of characters.
However, a sacrifice that felt like the most bitter thing to commit to was playing it in Quality Mode on my base PS5.That’s because you end up ruining the game for yourself with its blurry performance mode despite crisp framerates.
I know it’s improved since then to an extent, but I’ll admit right here that this game was one of the main reasons for my sooner-than-later upgrade to the Pro.
Rebirth’s cinematics are among the most beautiful pieces of animation in a video game. Intricate details like face models, background LOD, and environmental textures matter a great deal here, especially when exploring the world.
The PS5 Pro comes with the new Versatility Mode, which combines the benefits of the original two modes. But the Pro’s Quality Mode is still there if you want the maximum image quality and notice those finer details.
Yet again, it’s not perfect like most games; you might see rare shimmering effects, but in the grand scheme, it is one of the best games to play on your PS5 Pro to harness its raw power.
