Publisher Shonen Gangan andFullmetal Alchemistcreator Hiromu Arakawa are teasing a new project to celebrate the seriesâ 20th anniversary.
The Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, concluded their poignant journey fueled by loss, war and alchemy in 2010 (in Japan) with the mangaâs end, with the second anime adaptation concluding the same year.

The exciting announcement will coincide with the showâs 20th anniversary, commemorating the release of the first manga chapter published in 2001.

Manga Mogura on Twitter reported that there will be new information released by Arakawa to celebrate the seriesâ 20th anniversary.
This announcement is meant to address a newFMA-related project from the creator âthat fans donât want to missâ.

Shonen Gangan also revealed that the magazine will featureFullmetal Alchemiston the cover of the publisherâs upcoming issue.

The cover will feature Edward Elric and is the same image that was featured on Volume 1 of the Fullmetal Edition manga.
An additional treat with the issue will be a clear file printed with a newFullmetal Alchemistillustration, featuring all of the main characters.

Arakawaâs manga accumulated 108 chapters with 27 tankÅbon (graphic novel), and sold over 70-million copies worldwide.
The first anime began in 2003 and produced an independent ending, as the mangaâs conclusion had not been written by that point.
A second anime series,Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, released in 2009 and ended faithfully to Arakawaâs conclusion.

Fans are hoping for a sequel to the original story, which would be a monumental announcement. However, an independent story following Roy Mustang has also been passed through the rumor mill.
