In the current anime scene,Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endis one of the hottest names that has stood out the most in 2024. The fantasy series has glued the viewers to their screens as they feature a story that feels like a warm hug with a protagonist that features some of the most broken powers in an Isekai world.

At first, the title looks like any other fantasy series. However, once the story picks up the pace, it will greatly distinguish itself from the most popular names. After all, it focuses more on the characters and story than it does on action.
Despite having a near-perfect reaction to the first season 1 of the show, it could not escape criticism, as it committed a grave mistake following Stark, one of the core characters of the show.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endalmost featured a perfect character-based story
Based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe,Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endhas been labeled as a masterpiece that examines life and its emotional journey, where we meet companions along the way. Thus, within its premiere, it has been creating a buzz, where much of it has been very positive, withIMDbfeaturing a positive score of 8.9/10.
With the idea of picking up from where most series leave off, that is featuring a hero’s end journey. Thus, subverting the viewers’ expectations, deserving all the hype that followed it. However, everyone liking the adaptation can’t hide the fact that the character-focused series has mistreated Stark, who has been an absolute fan favorite ever since he was featured on the screen.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Ditched Himmel and Frieren’s Past for One of the Best Aspects of the Anime
The show features 3 core characters, Frieren, Fern, and Stark, with the first name being the protagonist of the show. Though it may sound appalling, the Eternal Elf’s journey would not have had much impact on the viewers had it not been for Stark.
Season 1, which features only 28 episodes, has surely focused on developing the Underdog Warrior, where he stood as a symbol of overcoming self-doubt, and that one can overcome odds if they are determined enough.

However, the fans have noticed that out of all the three characters, Stark seems to be more sidelined. This issue has even been raised by a Reddit user onr/Frieren, where they“absolutely”loved Season 1, but one thing has been“bugging”them for a fair reason.
The fan emphasized how the human warrior seemed a“little useless in most cases,” and they understood how the creators would have fair reasons for it. However, what bothers them is whether Stark will have his moment to shine later on in the story.

Frierencommunity gives their opinion on Stark’s much-deserved screentime
Following the fan’s opinion about the character, the rest of the community was summoned to the post. This made them have their say, after the user mentioned how they found “potential” in the character, but has been kept in the background for the most part in the initial season of the anime adaptation.
The fandom resonated with a similar response, with some providing spoilers on how Stark would get seldom moments, where he would shine bright like a star. The fans commented,
With the series officiallyannouncing its second season, fans hope that the series will give some individual moments to Stark and make the group dynamic more balanced, making the story more relatable, where he overcomes his struggles.
Although he has been an exceptional addition to the story, a fan spoiled it, stating he will continue to be underutilized because“the story mostly focuses on magic,”followed by a big“MAYBE.”Thus, keeping the Stark fans on their toes, where they hope such is not the case.
Season 1 ofFrieren:Beyond Journey’s Endcan be bought on Apple TV; meanwhile, the manga can be read on VIZ Media.
