The fantasy genre of the anime industry has been completely dominated byFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endas the series continues to gain popularity despite only having a single season under its belt. It was deemed one of the greatest anime of all time and was instantly renewed for a second season, which is only going to add more flesh to the the story.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endfollows the story of the elven mage Frieren, who was a member of the adventurer party that, after a ten-year quest, killed the Demon King and brought peace back to their universe. She then goes on to learn more about the world and returns fifty years later when everything is changed, making her take a different look at her surroundings.
On her new journey, she meets with an intriguing character by the name of Stark. Stark joins Frieren’s new party as a vanguard and holds a lot of significance to the narrative. However, it looks likeFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endis unable to do justice to his character as he is not yet fully established within the storyline.

Stark’s character development inFrieren: Beyond Journey’s End
Kanehito Yamada’sFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endstole the show in 2024by delivering one of the greatest stories of all time. The series explored the elements of fantasy, adventure, and drama with the added benefit of comedic relief. One character who adds humor toFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endis Stark, a human warrior who was Eisen’s apprentice.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Created a Misconception About Elves That Might Lead To Their Extinction
Stark joins Frieren’s new journey on Eisen’s instruction, and he showcases his strengths and talents as a warrior. He is a charming individual who is quite popular, but he gets quite scared whenever he is faced with a challenge or a threat. But this doesn’t stop him from saving others or showing courage when it is needed the most inFrieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
He is a hardworking character who, no matter what, never gives up on training himself and trying to become a better version. Stark’s character has a lot of potential, and while his character development inFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endseems a little slow, it is safe to assume that he might prove himself one way or the other.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endneeds to do better with Stark’s character
While Stark is indeed one of the best characters inFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endin terms of development, the general opinion among fans after the first season is that his cowardly personality doesn’t do justice to his character. All of his accomplishments and winnings are sometimes overshadowed by his initial fear of losing or getting killed.
While he has fought some of the biggest enemies, like the Solar Dragon, the anime’s habit of establishing him and then making it look like he disappeared does not fit well with his character development.

Although the argument can be made that it is only the first season ofFrieren: Beyond Journey’s End, his character still had a lot of potential that could have been explored.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s Endanime series is trying to show the eventual growth of Stark as a character, and while this approach may work in the long run, currently it is creating a terrible misconception about him. Hopefully, the second season ofFrieren: Beyond Journey’s Endwill do justice to his character.
