Fortniteplayers are calling the new Giant Chicken skin “pay to lose”, due to the immense size of its hitbox. It’s the second skin to arrive as part of the continued Fortnite x Family Guy crossover, but has caused controversy after fans are now questioning why Peter Griffin’s skin doesn’t have the character’s original body.

When the Peter Griffin skin was released with Chapter 5 Season 1 late last year, fans were left confused by the character’s shredded body. Usually, Peter Griffin is known for being pretty overweight, so the change was confusing, to say the least. Epic Games did release ashort skitthat gave a logical answer to the change, revealing that Peter had drunk a slurp juice to get “swole.” But the technical reason still remains a mystery.

Previously, players believed that using Peter Griffin’s original body wouldn’t fit into the game’s hitboxes. For those unaware, a skin’s hitbox determines where it collides with another object. In a game such as Fortnite, it essentially allows the character to be shot. But a larger skin, such as Peter Griffin, means it would need a much larger hitbox, thus giving enemies more opportunities to hit their shots.

Seth Macfarlane, creator and voice actor for Family Guy, recently said in an interview withIGNthat Epic Games “didn’t have the budget” to make Peter Griffin’s original body. The comment was likely made in jest, considering Fortnite has generated over$20 billion in lifetime revenue.

So, fans put the decision down to the game’s hitboxes. But with the recent release of the Giant Chicken skin, is that really the case?

Fortnite Fans Baffled By “Pay To Lose” Chicken Skin

Over on the Fortnite subreddit, one user showed a side-by-side comparison of the new Giant Chicken skin and a regular Fortnite skin, and the size difference is immense. The user says they canceled their purchase immediately after realizing.

Many of the responses called the skin “pay to lose” due to its sheer size, which likely means the skin has a much larger hitbox than others. Plus, its gigantic size and bright yellow coloring will also make you stick out like a sore thumb and be easy pickings for snipers.

While many of the comments were confused as to why Epic couldn’t give fans the fat version of Peter Griffin, withone user even sayingthey “demand” the fat Peter skin, some believe the skin variant will be released at a later date. “So Fat Peter is 100% saved to be a non battlepass skin in the future after this season is what I’m getting from this,“one user said.

We’ll have to wait and find out if that’s to be the case. But given the recent release of the Giant Chicken skin, a fat version of Peter Griffin seems increasingly likely.
