How To Power Up Materia
While Materia is equipped on various characters, it willlevel up based on the AP earned in battle while it is equipped.Materia can be completely leveled up without even using it and finishing battles with other methods. As AP is earned on Materia, it will increase in rank, represented by its stars, and give the useraccess to stronger versions of that Materia’s spell formore MP.
Evenparty members who aren’t active will have their Materia earn AP.It also doesn’t matter how many Materia are equipped, as thesame sum of AP for all equipped Materia, no matter the volume.Simply completing battles and earning AP to level up normally will see Materia leveling up, but at amuch slower pace than individual character levels.
Powering Up Summon Materia
Summon Materia is different than regular Materia in thatDivine Intel will need to be completed to increase the rank of that Summon’s Materia.Each region of the game will have a Summon dedicated to it, with the Divine Intel for that region being used to rank up the Materia. The Summon will alsofirst need to be fought in the Combat Simulator before it can be obtained.Depending on the number ofDivine Intelcollected in that region, theSummon can also be weakened for an easier fight but for the same reward.

Equipping & Using Materia
As Materia has its own level, it can bemoved across party members as often as players would likewithout losing its effectiveness. By fully utilizing all the possible Materia slots on the party, players canlevel up a wide array of Materia and equip specific spells on the active partyto target the weaknesses of whatever enemy populates the current region of the game.
Materia can beequipped on the weapons and gear of the party,with some items having more slots than others. Some Materia may also give players access to multiple spells for only the one Materia, such as the Blizzard & Fire Materia. Summon Materia do take up a slot, but since they can’t be leveled up, it’softentimes worthwhile to only equip that Materia for difficult fightsand only have one Summon Materia equipped for each active party.
Using spells from Materia is a great way to power up forSynergy Attacks.Leveling up your Materia will also help players increasetheir character’s levelto make the party stronger.
