How To Increase Relationship Status
The straightforward way of increasing a character’s relationship status is bypicking the right dialogue options when talking to them, which varies for each character and their opinions.In various story moments in the game, Cloud will have one-on-one conversations with party members, and picking the right choice will give points toward that character’s Relationship Status. Thesemoments can be missed but also have no limitations,letting playerstalk to each party member to increase their status when the moment arises.
Another way to get points for a relationship is bycompleting side quests.Manyside questswill have aspecific party member take center stage along with Cloud,and completing that mission will alsoreward relationship points for that party member.Each quest has a predetermined character to get relationship points with, and this can be seen in theside quest menu by which character portrait appears next to it.

How To Check Relationship Status
Checking the Relationship status with each party member can be doneanywhere outside of combat by holding down L1.The relationship status of a character willappear over their head when Cloud approaches them,showing which rank the relationship is at. Various amounts of points are required to rank up a relationship, and there isno way to check the progression from one rank to another.
The icon can help quickly identify how much that character likes Cloudbased on the smile on the face and the color of the icon.After choosing the right dialogue option or completing a quest, anotification will appear indicating the relationship between Cloudand thatparty memberhas changed, also saying"deepened" if their rank went up.
For the majority of the journey, each party member will be by Cloud’s side, usingSynergy Attacksand leveling up together. Unlocking new Synergy Attacks will require players to increase theirParty Level.
