As we begin to enter the final weeks of the year and new releases begin to slow, it’ll be interesting to see which games perform best down the stretch.
For last week in the UK, the first week following that of Black Friday,FIFA 19has held firm in the top spot for the week continuing its dominance as one of the year’s best-selling titles. This is now the second straight week thatFIFA 19has taken home the number one position on the chart months after its initial release. When 2018 comes to a close, it seems likeFIFA 19could stand as the region’s top-selling game of 2018.
Perhaps most disappointing this week,Darksiders IIIwas the only major new release on the chart and it had a rather poor showing out of the gate.Darksiders IIIdebuted at 32nd on the UK sales chart, which doesn’t seem to indicate positive things for publisher THQ Nordic. Then again, it is also important to point out that many of the games above it on this list were likely on sale due to the holiday season. Plus,Darksidershas always been a rather niche franchise in the first place, although I’d still have to imagine that this position mixed with the game’s poor reception isn’t good.
As for other noteworthy movements of the week,Red Dead Redemption 2leapfroggedCall of Duty: Black Ops 4to re-take the second spot. Meanwhile,Battlefield VandForza Horizon4held firm at fourth and fifth respectively whileSpyro: Reignited Trilogyjumped back up three spots into sixth.
