Since this man is the brain behind this idea, he would have the highest authority to change the current course of the anime, and make it look as appealing as the manga.

Mashima himslef said that he wants to make more ofFairy Tail, along with other spin-off series, making it clear that it would get further anime/manga adaptations. Facing this crucial aspect head-on will force Mashima to somehow revive the franchise and restore its right to be considered one of the modern anime classics.
