Dragon Ageis one of the most iconic video game series of all time. Along withMass Effect, BioWare’s medieval gem isa staple of the RPG genre, as few franchises have reached its level of quality.
Over the years, it has established itself as a contemporary classic, captivating millions of players around the globe who, like me, are enthralled by Thedas' magnificent world.

Even with its highs and lows, the influence it has is unmistakable, asone cannot fathom the state of modern RPGs without recognizing Dragon Age’s impact.
So, using all my love and knowledge to do justice to the illustrious name before me, here isevery Dragon Age game ranked.

4Dragon Age II
Undervalued & Underrated
Dragon Age 2
Often seen as the worst entry,Dragon Age IIis more an action game than an RPG, which caused turmoil among the series' fans when it came out in 2011.
However, I advocate for misunderstood sequels likeDark Souls 2andBioShock 2,so I also believe Dragon Age II is a worthy representative of its legacy.

15 Best Games Like Baldur’s Gate 3
If you love the Baldur’s Gate franchise and want to find similar games, this list has you covered.
It’s the least remarkable installment, given its simple systems and rather trivial role-playing component, but it’s still a good game that deepened the franchise’s lore and added a needed update to its gameplay.

We can all agree that it’s a deserved fourth place, but I would like to think we also agreeDragon Age wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for its existence.
3Dragon Age: The Veilguard
BioWare’s Encouraging Comeback
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
After the failures ofMass Effect: AndromedaandAnthem, I was deathly afraid of what was going to happen withDragon Age: The Veilguard. Fortunately, BioWare showed a glimmer of its talent, thus giving us a strong game.
The series’ last entry has its flaws, but it’s hard to focus on them whenit feels like the adventures of the developer’s golden age.

With itsbeautiful setting, good faction system, and robust combat and storytelling, The Veilguard even upgrades various established characteristics of the franchise, accordingly adapting it to modern times.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Review
Dragons, Gods and corruption. Just another day in the life of an RPG hero.
Despite not surpassing the highest points of the series, it’s a special comeback that strikes harder after witnessing BioWare’s turbulent years, soit deserves recognition as a solid RPG.
2Dragon Age: Origins
An RPG Classic
Dragon Age: Origins
The die-hard fans of pure role-playing will findDragon Age: Originsto be the best in the series because it’s the most revolutionary, profound, and traditional of the group.
Due to its narrative quality, the game’s worldbuilding is immaculate. From the characters to the plot, and from the antagonists to the side quests, every element’s placement is perfect and makes you feel immersed in its freedom.
Unfortunately, Origins’ gameplay has always been lackluster, especially by today’s standards. With clunky combat and tedious level design, its mechanics felt like a barrier to enjoying the story and its branches.
I may not see it as the best Dragon Age, butOrigins is a superb adventure every RPG fan has to experience at least once. The game’s so well-written and directed that it’s among thegreatest BioWare titles, despite its occasional clumsiness.
1Dragon Age: Inquisition
A Versatile Masterpiece
Dragon Age: Inquisition
By combining the finest aspects of its precursors, BioWare craftedDragon Age: Inquisition, which isn’t only the superior Dragon Age but, dare I say, the best game made by the developer.
While having the complexity and richness of Origins’ narrative and Dragon Age II’s fluent action, Inquisition achieves a definitive experience that’s outstanding on every front.
The combat is a spectacle, quests are diverse, exploration is spontaneous, plots are fascinating, and characters are memorable―everything works simultaneously as a perfect machine to make Inquisitionone of the best open-world RPGs of all time.
10 Best Dialogue-Heavy RPGs, Ranked
Want to immersive yourself in a new RPG? Here are some of the most dialogue-heavy titles around.
As it masterfully approaches the end of the world through an adventure that gets better with each second,Dragon Age: Inquisition is the greatest of the franchise, without a doubt.
The only piece contesting its title as thebest BioWare gameisMass Effect 2, but beyond that, the Inquisitor’s tale remains the most epic, refined, and enjoyable entry the company has made.
