Maris, Fathom of Night is a Nightlord inElden Ring Nightreignthat seems really challenging at first due to its ability to fly around the arena. This can make it really difficult to land attacks on it, especially if you have the wrong team composition.
Luckily, once you understand how Maris works, the boss fightreally isn’t that challenging. Targeting its weaknesses, having the right team composition, and learning how to avoid its major attacks can make this fight a breeze.

So, it’s time to defeat this Nightlord once and for all. This guide explains how to beat Maris, Fathom of Night in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Recommended Team Composition
Due to Maris' being a flying Nightlord, it can be pretty challenging to land attacks on it with Nightfarers who primarily use standard weapons such as swords.
In this case, you want two ranged characters to constantly deal damage as it flies around. I recommend havingtwo Ironeyesand oneWylderfor the fight against Maris, Fathom of Night.

Raider is a decent choice heredue to his high damage output. However, since he has slow movements, it can be hard to rush in quickly enough to deal damage to the Nightlord.
Weakness and Preparation
Maris, Fathom of Night is weak to Lightning damage, so it’s best toequip relics that increase Lightning Attack Power. To easily find relics in your inventory that increase Lightning Attack Power, go to the Relic Rites table and filter the relics by “Status Effect.”
On equipping relics that improve Lightning Attack Power, the amount of damage you deal to Maris will significantly increase. While on an expedition, try to findweapons that come with a Lightning, or grease that applies Lightning as a backup.

Here are the things you need to do to complete all of Duchess’s Remembrance quests in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Players should also keep on the lookout forStimulating Boluseswhile on an expedition. One of Maris' biggest attacks is putting the player to sleep, which deals a ton of damage to the entire party. Consuming Stimulating Boluses can prevent this from happening.

Boluses stack and last for the entire expedition, so verify to eat them right away.
If all teammates go into the Maris Nightlord fight with Lightning and Stimulating Boluses, then it’s almost a guaranteed win. Of course, try your best to defeat as many mini-bosses on an expedition toreach the maximum leveland select upgrades from mini-bosses that increase stamina and health.
How to Beat Maris, Fathom of Night
Maris, Fathom of Night, surprisingly doesn’t have a very complex moveset. However, each attack deals a high amount of damage and can be challenging to avoid.
Description
Water Wave
Maris will reach down to the ground and throw a wave of water toward the player. Usually the boss will send two waves, but sometimes more.
Bubble Explosives
Maris will send explosive bubbles that hone in on the players. If players get too close to these, they will explode and deal a ton of damage. Players can defeat these from long range, or run away until they explode.
Maris will summon tentacles throughout the arena that attack players if they get too close. Defeat these tentacles by attacking them, as they only take a few hits to kill.
Maris curls into a ball, inflicting sleep on the entire arena. If players fall asleep, they will get staggered and lose a ton of health. Use any Ultimate Art to stun Maris out of this phase.
Wind Burst
Maris dives into the ground and spins, creating a circle of wind that expands outward. I recommend running away here.
Spinning Lunge
Maris will spin and lunge towards the player, covering a considerable amount of ground. This can be easily dodged by rolling to the side.
Maris will go to the sky and drop a teardrop that explodes if it reaches the ground. Use Ironeye to attack and destroy the teardrop before it reaches the ground.
One of the most frequent attacks is the water wave, which is almost constant throughout the entire boss fight. This can be hard to avoid at first, but it can actually be dodged by rolling into it at an angle. Running away from the waves is another good method.
Maris, Fathom of Night also likes to curl into a ball on the ground andinflict Sleep on the entire arena. If players fall asleep, they will not only be stunned but also receive a ton of damage. When you see Maris begin this attack animation, use any Ultimate Art to stun it.
Maris will eventually summon tentacles that come out of the ground and attack players who get too close. I recommendkilling these tentacles as fast as possiblesince they can be a major distraction from the main target. Luckily, they only take a few hits to defeat them.
Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Beat Fulghor, Champion Of Nightglow
This centaur’s got hands.
Maris will also summonexplosive bubblesthat follow players around the arena. It would be best tohave Ironeye shoot these from afar, preferably when they are near the Nightlord, since the explosives from the bubbles will deal damage to the boss.
The most devastating attack from the boss is when it goes into the air anddrops a teardrop. This teardrop causes a massive explosion when it hits the ground, which can potentially kill your entire team depending on their HP level.Ironeye can shoot this teardrop before it hits the ground, destroying it and stunning Maris.
Now that you know how to avoid the attacks mentioned, you’ll find that Maris, Fathom of Night is one of theeasiest Nightlords in the game. Remember, have Ironeye constantly shoot Maris as it flies around, and have Wylder attack as much as possible when it’s close to the ground. This strategy, mixed with Lightning attacks, is the key to winning this battle.
