Up until Imu Sama and the Five Elders, it was hard to perceiveOne PieceVillains as solely evil. Every major villain in the series has a distinct charm. Their actions are malicious and their overall personalities are not morally right, but their writing makes them easily likable. For instance, Katakuri is a noble villain, whereas Doflamingo and Crocodile are likable because of their unhinged personas.

There is another group ofOne Piecevillains who fans just want to see getting beaten up by Luffy. The hostility aimed at them is a result of their arrogance or a complete disregard for others. Rob Lucci and Arlong fall under this category. However, Enel is one such villain that could simultaneously fall under both categories and defy them. He wreaked havoc during pre-time-skipOne Pieceand deserves a good comeback in the series.
After Rob Lucci, Enel’s Comeback is Strangely Intriguing to Fans
Rob Lucci made a return inEgghead. He always considered Luffy inferior. During Enies Lobby, Luffy nearly matched his strength and even landed some deadly punches on him. Yet none of that was enough to humble Lucci. This unaccepting aspect of his character made his comeback a great opportunity to finally have him realize his own shortcomings. What made his return so gratifying was that fans just wanted to see him experience proper defeat.

Enel’s comeback would have the exact opposite impact on fans. Rather than seeing him get defeated, it would be nice to see how he has evolved as a character. Enel was an extremely intriguing character with big dreams. He wasn’t inherently evil but didn’t mind being slightly or overly immoral to achieve his goals. These aspects of his character set him apart from the other villains.
Enel’s Contrived End and His Potential Return inOne Piece
Enel’s introduction was shrouded in mystery. He was extremely ambitious with a god-complex so severe that he made us all believe that Luffy was going to face a god during Skypiea. He molded and used his simplistic but strong devil fruit powers in numerous ways. All of that gave us a glimpse of his genius and his dedication to his goal.
He truly believed that he was superior to the mere mortals he was surrounded with, and reinstated his belief with his demeanor and actions. This belief was also the driving force that helped him push

“It needs to happen”: One Piece Anime Going on a Break Till April 2025 is the Best Thing That Could Have Happened, Here’s Why
For a villain who was so capable, his defeat wasn’t completely satisfying. Luffy’s devil fruit made him naturally immune to Enel’s attacks. While this makes sense and is a logical plot line, it is nowhere close to being as satisfying as it should have been. Moreover, Luffy’s devil fruit is not the same anymore. The Gum Gum fruit that made him victorious over Enel doesn’t even exist, it’ll be interesting to see how that changes their dynamics in a fight.
Luffy has gotten significantly stronger and Enel might not even stand a chance against him inOne Piece. Still, it would be great to see how his character has evolved. This intrigue in his character goes beyond what he can do against Luffy. His own ambitions and goals deserve a follow-up beyond the cover stories. Almost allOne Piecevillains have remained a part of the loop, we can’t have Enel missing the party.
