Eiichiro Oda’sOne Piecehas always left the fans wanting more. The mysteries that he creates take away their sleep, and they spend their time deducing the reasons behind it. Just when the fans start to think that they have the answer to a mystery, he doubles it by adding another mystery. For the past 25 years, Eiichiro Oda has used the same technique to awestruck theOne Piecefandom, but in the Egghead Island arc, he decided to do something different.

Bartholomew Kuma

Instead of giving rise to more mysteries, Eiichiro Oda decided to answer several of them in one single arc. He managed to connect several dots through Batholomew Kuma, and the fandom was stunned to see such developments. Kuma’s life is as tragic as it can get, butOne Piecechapter 1103 shows that Eiichiro Oda might give him the send-off that he needs to immortalize his legacy.

Bartholomew Kuma’s Journey

Bartholomew Kuma has always been one of the most selfless characters inOne Piece. Eiichiro Oda’s magic hands designed him in such a way that people initially hated him, but after the time skip, they started to see the good in Kuma, and after the Egghead Island arc, they are shedding tears for him. Bartholomew Kuma’s life has been nothing but a tragedy. He is a half-Buccaneer and half-human hybrid. His father was the king of the Sorbet Kingdom, but due to his race being connected to the ancient kingdom, he was imprisoned along with his wife and son.

Kuma spent most of his childhood in prison and listened to his father telling stories about Sun God Nika and how he would save all humankind. During the God Valley Incident, he ate the Paw-Paw Devil Fruit and escaped the Island with Ginny and Ivankov. Later, he and Ginny went back to the Sorbet Kingdom and took care of the residents. Kuma used to take their pain and fatigue and secretly absorbed all the sufferings for everyone’s betterment.

Bartholomew Kuma Chapter 1100

Even though he had a good time with Ginny and later joined the Revolutionary Army with her, Eiichiro Oda was not done with his sufferings. During one of the missions, Ginny was kidnapped and forced into marriage to a World Noble. After two years, she managed to contact Kuma. She returned to the Church in Sorbet Kingdom and died, leaving her daughter, Bonney, behind. It was later revealed that Ginny embraced death due to theSapphire Scale disease. Kuma spent a few good years with Bonney before it was revealed that she, too, suffered from the Sapphire Scale disease.

To save his daughter, he traveled to several places, and ultimately, it was Dr. Vegapunk who knew how to cure the disease. One of the Five Elders,Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, came to know about this and struck a deal with Kuma that Vegapunk would cure his daughter, but he needed to become a cyborg for the World Government and never contact his daughter. Being a selfless person, he agreed to the terms so that her daughter could live.

Bonney was cured, and Kuma was turned into a Pacifista. But he had a last wish that only Vegapunk knew about. After becoming a Cyborg, he insisted Vegapunk install a mission within his system that would make him protect the Thousand Sunny until the Strawhats return.

Bartholomew Kuma Might Receive A Much-Needed Farewell By Eiichiro Oda

Bartholomew Kuma had a massive impact on Bonney’s life. He gave her the fatherly love that she deserved after her mother’s death and always took care of her. Apart from her, he also had an impact on Monkey D. Luffy’s life. But it was something of an indirect approach. Knowing that he is the son of Monkey D. Dragon, his former commander. He saved them from Sabaody Archipelago, then protected their ship, and lastly came to Bonney and Luffy’s rescue onEgghead Island.

Kuma always fancied Sun God Nika and thought him to be the savior of humankind. But Eiichiro Oda might have planned something different. While Saint Jaygarcia Saturn has cornered the Strawhats and Bonney, he came out of nowhere to protect them. The character he always thought would protect him ended up being the person he saved.

One Piece chapter 1103 showcases Kuma aiming a punch at Saint Jaygarcia Saturn

Eiichiro Oda’sOne Piecechapter 1103 ended with Kuma aiming a punch at Saturn. The punch was coated with Armament Haki, which means that he might have a little of his consciousness left. Apart from that, he also has the self-destruction button. Bonney and Strawhats have next to no chance of winning against Staurn, so Kuma might sacrifice himself to help them escape from Egghead.

Bartholomew Kuma’s selfless character would have the best sending off if he sacrificed himself for Sun God Nika. He will be immortalized in the eyes of theOne Piecefandom. The way it is looking right now, Eiichiro Oda is heading towards that path.
