Full launch began on June 10th, and although there have been minor bugs, glitches, and server queue times, the pros heavily outweigh the cons, and Funcom has been soaking up constructive community feedback and quickly delivering patches and development roadmaps.

In their latest message to sleepers, Funcom has outlined the changes they plan to make to PvE and PvP in the deep desert: “We want PvE players to be able to play the endgame and have access to the content of the endgame. Our goal is not to force PvE players to interact with a PvP system that they may have no interest in,” said Dune: AwakeningCreative Director Joel Bylos.

Dune Awakening - PvE, PvP, Deep Desert Updates

The Dune Community Spoke, And Funcom Listened

One of the areas that Dune players have said could use a bit of love is the deep desert, which is where you’ll be able to engage in PvP in a power struggle over control points and spice fields. One of the issues was thatplayers wanting to farm the valuable end-game resources without being attacked were feeling left out.

“The reality is that players are reporting being cut out of the endgame due to the extremely competitive nature of the Deep Desert. Starting soon, some areas of the Deep Desert will now be flagged as “Partial Warfare (PvE)” areas where players will be able to explore testing stations and harvest T6 resources without the threat of conflict they may not want.” - Creative Director Joel Bylos

Bylos explained thatDune: Awakeninghas a big focus on guilds and groups, so reaching the top-tier solo will be a grind, but it isn’t impossible, and these changes will help make it easier for solo players to experience the end-game content without being swarmed by desert pirates. However, if you wish to help your faction secure control points or discover the biggest spice fields available, you’ll need to risk it all.

“Landsraad control points, shipwrecks and the largest spice fields within this region of the Deep Desertwill remain “War of Assassins (PvP)” flagged.” Said Bylos.

The Landsraad is the foundation of endgame content in Dune: Awakening, and it revolves around a fight for control between the competing factions: the Harkonnen and the Atreides. The Dune development team has acknowledged that the Landsraad could use some love and is planning on addingmore specialized delivery tasks, contracts, new dungeons, bosses, and rare endgame loot.

“The activities that the Landsraad asks you to do will become more varied as we flesh out the world with more content and activities,” said Creative Director Joel Bylos.

Steam reviews for Dune: Awakening are currently very positive, records are being broken, and the community is rejoicing about additionalend-gamecontent and balance.
