Dwayne Johnson’s feud with Vin Diesel was one of the high-profile beefs that came out of Hollywood. Given that both actors were in theFast & Furiousfranchise, the feud took center stage with the franchise arguably being in its golden age. However, as Johnson expands towards more dramatic roles withThe Smashing Machine, it seems that The Rock has one upcoming fight that might leave the Diesel-Johnson beef in the dust.

In the upcoming filmThe Smashing Machine, Dwayne Johnson will be essaying the role of Mark Kerr, the legendary wrestler and MMA fighter. Facing him in the film would be Oleksandr Usyk, who will take up the role of Igor Vovchanchyn, who fought Mark Kerr in a fight to secure the unofficial title of the #1 Heavyweight in the world. Given Johnson’s professional wrestling background and Usky’s status as a celebrated boxer, fans might be in for a duel that would put any Hollywood beef to shame.
Mark Kerr and Igor Vovchanchyn clashed twice in the ring
Mark Kerrand Igor Vovchanchyn were a part of the classic rumble feud, the kind that came to fruition twice, once in PRIDE 7 and the second time in PRIDE 12. Given that this feud is set to be the main storyline of the film, it might not make sense to reveal the results and spoil what the film has to offer.

Kerr and Vovchanchyn’s first match was at PRIDE 7, which saw Kerr dominate the first half of the match, but failed to do any lasting damage to the latter. Their second fight would go on to take place in PRIDE 12, which saw the duo have their match end in a draw. However, after two rounds, there was a third round announced, with the bout being finished.
The fights between Kerr and Vovchanchyn were considered to be one of the most intriguing matchups in MMA, given that both fighters were equally matched, with their strengths focusing on different aspects of mixed martial arts. While Kerr was known for his grappling, Vovchanchyn was a particularly good-standing fighter.

Oleksandr Usyk is the perfect cast for Igor Vovchanchyn
Given that Igor Vovchanchyn is going to be the antagonist of the film, and that whoever is playing him is going to have to square up toThe Rock, Usyk might have been the best to play the antagonist in the film. Not only that but Oleksandr Usyk himself also has an impressive fight record in boxing history.
