The Fighter is one of the starting Vocations inDragon’s Dogma 2.This vocation focuses on drawing enemies' attention away from their allies, blocking powerful attacks while also dealing damage back with their one-handed weapon.
10 Best RPGs For Evil Playthroughs
Take a walk on the Dark Side.
The Fighter has many weapon skills that utilize both the sword and shield, covering both offensive and defensive techniques. Here are the best combat skills for the Fighter vocation, ranked.
Dragon’s Dogma 2
10Counter Slash
Guaranteed Parry That Can Be Held If Needed
Counter Slash is practically a guaranteed parry. A parry much like this is naturally possible by blocking in the same instant an enemy is going in to attack the player. While parrying is great, and this Skill deals a good bit of damage, it does take up one of the four weapon skill slots with something that can be done without a skill.
Parrying is effective but is only one of the many options a fighter has in combat. Many fights throughout the game will also be against larger enemies or magical attacks where this Skill won’t be nearly as useful.

9Perfect Defense
Block Even More Incoming Damage
Perfect Defense is another skill that performs an amplified version of something that can already naturally be done. Blocking in combat is the bread and butter of a fighter, so having a skill that blocks even more than usual isn’t always necessary.
There are a lot of powerful attacks that can possibly break a fighter’s defense and make them drop their guard, and this Skill helps that happen much less. This Skill can also block the attacks and draw the attention of multiple enemies at once, making it only slightly better than Counter Slash.

8Impeccable Guard
A Great 360 Degree Defense
Impeccable Guard is a great escape option for those in a tight spot. Many fights will have players facing all sorts of enemies coming from all directions, and it’s sometimes better to get to a different position and redirect all your enemies in front of you.
While Impeccable Guard is a great escape, its applications are few and far between, which makes it worthwhile for one of your four Weapon Skill slots. The targeting for the direction of this Skill is also key, as aiming in the wrong direction will result in your player in an enemy’s worst position.

7Gouging Skewer
Lots Of Damage To Single Enemies
Gouging Skewer is a really fun skill to use that deals a lot of damage. Slamming down and pinning an enemy while dealing continuous damage is very helpful in any fight, along with its additional applications against larger enemies.
This Skill’s only downside is that it ties the player into a single animation while the attack is done, and the player will need to stand there longer to deal enough damage to make this worthwhile, leaving them open to being attacked by another enemy.

6Hindsight Slash
A Dodge With Slash Follow-Up
One downside to the Fighter Vocation is that they aren’t nimble on their feet and are unable to dodge naturally. While instead of normally hiding behind a shield, Hindsight Slash gives players a sort of dodge skill that will be followed by an attack.
DualShockers Definitives: 10 Best Xbox Series X/S RPGs
There are many incredible RPGs available on the Xbox Series X/S, but these are the best RPGs the console has to offer.
While the damage on the follow-up attack is only decent, this Skill excels against larger enemies when players get the timing right. The strength of an attack will determine how much Stamina is drained when blocking, and sometimes, this dodge ability is better and costs less Stamina.

5Shield Summons
Draw Nearby Enemies' Attention
One of the main roles of the Fighter in a party is to fight enemies directly to keep them off of ranged fighters who can focus on dealing damage. With Shield Summons, players will not only be able to fight enemies up close and personal but also draw more enemies' attention at once.
This Skill can be risky, as the players will then be targeted by all nearby enemies, but yourfreed-up pawnswill be able to lay down the hurt because of it. This Skill can also make for a great combo with Compass Slash, as this Skill will bunch enemies up to then get hit by an AOE attack.
4Airward Slash
Leap Into The Air To Attack Airborne Enemies
A Fighter is limited in that they won’t be able to attack enemies in the air. Players will need to wait for flying enemies to get lower or be knocked down by their allies before really being able to join in on the fight.
With Airward slash, Fighters are given some aerial options, as this attack will launch them up in the air to slash. Smaller enemies hit will also be knocked down so that other attacks can be followed up to finish off the enemy. This Skill is also great against larger enemies, as the player will be able to jump and hit a weak point if it’s too high up.
3Shield Bash
Knockback Enemies With Your Shield
Shield Bash will have players use their shield and slam it into a nearby enemy. While a shield doesn’t seem as effective as a sword, this Skill has an incredible amount of uses. Many enemies in the game will have hardened skin, some even made of rocks, and slashing weapons won’t deal any damage.
Shield Bash not only lets players hit these armed enemies but also gives players a powerful and quick knockback ability. Enemies hit by this Skill will be sent flying, which is great for crowd control or launching enemies over a ledge to kill them instantly.
2Compass Slash
Cut Through Groups Of Enemies
Compass Slash is a spinning attack that deals a very large amount of damage to all enemies hit. This Skill is a great follow-up to taunting a large group and even has decent knockback potential to break up a group while also damaging them all.
This Skill moves the player a bit, too, helping them escape dangerous situations or drive into the thick of it with a bang. THe base damage for this Skill is also fairly high, with the follow up spin from Full Moon Slash being one of the best skills players can use.
1Blink Strike
Jump Around The Battlefield Impaling Enemies
Fights in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can get hectic, spreading out over large areas, with a Fighter needing to jump from one location to another to use melee attacks or defend and ally. With Blink Strike, players can lunge around the battlefield quickly, damaging enemies and getting where they need to be using only a bit of Stamina.
With the upgrade to Burst Strike, players can quickly dash over long distances for muchless Staminathan it would take to sprint. The damage on this ability also makes it worthwhile for attacking closer enemies or staggering an enemy seconds before they attack an ally.
