Dragon Ball DAIMAis set to premiere in less than a month and it would mark the final contribution of Akira Toriyama’s to the series. At the same time, the anime becomes the face of his legacy, marking the beginning of a journey with much to live up to. The doubts regarding it were undeniable, both before and after the legendary mangaka passed away.

However, seeing the drastic change in circumstances, the value and meaning the anime holds has changed in its support. It is no longer just an addition to theDragon Balluniverse. It now has an emotional connection. Needless to say, Toei Animation could have made it a grand spectacle, marking it as a tribute to the mangaka. What they did instead was much better.

Dragon Ball DAIMA Takes a Step Back

TheDragon Ballof today has Goku and Vegeta in extremely strong positions. Transformations like Ultra Instinct and Super Saiyan Blue can take over any previous forms that they had. The power creep has been exponentially large, leaving little to no room for other possible aspects of their previous transformations to remain relevant.

The addition ofDragon Ball DAIMAinto the franchise would change exactly that. Seeing that the series is set before the events ofSuperever took place, it also accounts for the fact that many of those upgrades weren’t available to the protagonists then. These would provide an entirely new playing field not only for the animators but also for the fans.

The series could focus without drifting away on forms that do not get enough screen time anymore. Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Super Saiyan 3 are long forgotten in the face of Super Saiyan God, Ultra Instinct, and Super Saiyan Blue (viaX). The simpler look at the series would make it more enjoyable to watch and give them the spotlight they just do not get anymore.

The Fate of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man

WhenTom Holland’sSpider-Man: Homecomingwas released, fans were joyous to see such an energy-filled Peter Parker. The comparisons between him and the other two stars grew, but it wasn’t enough to make it seem as if the character or movie itself lacked any essence. WhenSpider-Man: No Way Homecame out; these doubts were also pushed out of the window with a team-up that might happen once in a blue moon.

It was then confirmed that Holland’s entire trilogy worked as an extended origin story. That very fact touched the fans’ hearts and the way things ended for the third installment, provided a clean slate. This had fans expecting that Holland’s character would take up the role of the iconic Friendly Neighbourhood superhero.

In fact, it is something they have been asking for forevermore. By the looks of it, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has no plans of letting the fourth movie take things easy and go back to basics. Instead, it might be just another multiverse flick in an already growing array of many.

Dragon Ball DAIMAwill be available to watch on 11th October on Crunchyroll.
