In the final hours ofDragon Age: The Veilguard, players have to make a handful of impactful choices that will change the outcome of some story beats. One in particular is deciding who will lead the second team during the Isle of Gods Quest: Harding or Davrin.

What Happens If Harding Leads the Second Team?
Simply put, choosing Harding to lead the second team will ultimatelylead to her death and remove her as a companion from the game. She will put up a tough fight during her quest to distract Ghilan’nain, scaling the building and unleashing arrows on the back of the evil god’s head.
Unfortunately, the arrows aren’t enough, and Ghilan’nain slices through Harding with her piercing tentacles. This is the last time you’ll see Harding alive, as she falls into the pit below, completely consumed by the Blight.
Now that Harding has met her fate, she is no longer available as a companion, and youwon’t be able to use her in battle anymore.Additionally,any romances you may have started with Harding throughout the game will be over.
Ifa companion you romanceddies in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, then you miss out on the final romance scene at the end of the game. So, keep that in mind.
What Happens if Davrin Leads the Second Team?
Similar to choosing Harding, if you pick Davrin to lead the second team in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, thenhe will not make it out of the mission alive.
While losing Davrin is very sad, considering he’s one of the best characters in the game, it’s even more heartbreaking thatAssan (his pet griffon) dies with him.
Davrin puts up a good effort against Ghilan’nain, climbing to the highest point with hissword in hand, ready to distract her.
As he calls in Assan to attack the god’s head, she smashes the poor griffon to the side and slices her tentacles through Davrin’s chest.
This leads to him falling into the blighted pit as Assan runs after him, getting consumed by the Blight as well.

Due to the unfortunate death of Davrin, he will belocked out of combat for the rest of the game.The same principle applies here regarding romance, where if you werein a relationship with Davrin, it’s no longer available, and thefinal romance scene won’t happen.
Deciding on who to choose to lead the second team in Dragon Age: The Veilguard depends on various factors. First, if you happen to be romancing Davrin or Harding and want to see the final romance scene, then it’s essential that you don’t pick them.
Second, and arguably the most important, you shouldchoose the companion who you use the least in combat to lead the second team.
Considering the endgame bosses are the most difficult in the game, you want to make sure you have the strongest party possible going into the final quests.
Take note of who can execute detonation attacks with your Rook and preferred companions. Davrin synergizes well with Emmrich since they can execute detonation attacks through Weakened, whileHarding and Bellara create the perfect combinationthat detonates Sundered.
Last but not least,players should consider whose story they are most interested in and who they genuinely enjoy more as a character.Not all characters are created equal in Dragon Age: The Veilguard; where some have boring backgrounds, and others are exciting to follow.
If you are a fan of thenoble Grey Wardens factionand care about Davrin’s love for griffons, then maybe keep him alive so he comes out victorious in the end. Or maybe Harding’s guilt for not stopping Solas at the beginning of the game gives you the urge to see her happy and reach the game’s final moments.
