Changing the difficulty inDOOM: The Dark Ageslets you customize the game experience to your personal playstyle. Maybe you want to take more damage, emphasizing survivability more.

Or, perhaps you’re looking to feel overpowered while still putting restrictions on yourself. Let’s go overhow to change the difficulty in DOOM: The Dark Ages, as well as discuss what to expect from the game’s varying difficulties.
DOOM: The Dark Age’s Combat Difficulty Modes
DOOM: The Dark Age comes with six preset difficulty modes that will look and sound familiar if you’ve ever played a DOOM game before.
Description
Aspiring Slayer
If you’re new to the FPS genre, this is the best bet, as the experience is the most forgiving. You won’t be penalized for missing parries, enemies aren’t overly aggressive, and you won’t take as much damage.
Hurt Me Plenty
For those that want to experience the game’s story but aren’t looking for a walk in the park. It’s still a somewhat easy experience, but you’ll be tested every now and then.
Ultra-Violence
Looking to make that next step in terms of difficulty? Here you go. Enemies are more aggressive, hit harder, and will start to challenge you.
The parry window will still be forgiving, but your enemies won’t. They’re aggressive, hit hard, and can overwhelm you if you’re not careful.

Pandemonium
There’s a new quirk thrown in here with the importance of Life Sigils, which can revive you and restart a chapter when you’re out of health. However, if you run out of Life Sigils, the campaign is over.
Ultra-Nightmare
Was everything still too easy for you? Then here you go. Life Sigils can only heal you, and the game only saves when you complete a chapter. If you die, then your game is over. Good luck!
Additional Customization for DOOM: The Dark Ages Difficulties
As mentioned earlier, there’s a lot of tweaking you can do to customize your experience within DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Say, for example, you want to play with ultra-aggressive enemies that hit like a truck, but you also don’t want to worry about the parry window.

Or you want to crank up the game speed up because, for some reason, you think the gameplay inDOOMof all things is too slow. Don’t worry, you can do just that.
Here’s everything you can tweak and update to further customize your difficulty settings in DOOM: The Dark Ages:

Parry Window
This is how long your Parry Window is active when you use your shield. The larger the window, the more forgiving the system is.
