Use the unnatural powers gifted to Emily Kaldwin and Corvo Attano, the two main protagonists, each with distinctive skills. No matter which character players choose to play for a first playthrough, there’s more than a new skill tree to uncover during worthy additional playthroughs. The following are some tips to have an advantage for the first venture through Karnaca.
10Chaos Level
Chaos level is a graph displayed at the end of a level measuring the disruption caused by Emily or Corvo’s presence and actions during the mission. Low chaos can be achieved by staying completely stealthy and not killing enemies.
High chaos is caused by getting spotted or not maintaining stealth and taking the life of the enemies. Also on the same screen are other results from the mission, like if all the paintings, coins, and bone charms were collected.

9Corvo & Emily
Already at the very beginning of starting the game, players have atough choiceto make. Once the main protagonist has made her entrance and takes control of the castle, one must decide to play the entire game as either Corvo or Emily.
Each has their strengths, weaknesses, and special abilities to unlock and upgrade, so choosing one is really based on playstyle preference. Corvo is great for direct confrontation and dealing damage, while Emily is suited for sneakily outsmarting enemies and distanced fights.

8Quick Save & Load
Get spotted or mishandled an encounter during a mission? Fret not, as players can use the quick save and load functions to set up each attempt to achieve the desired Chaos level. The pause menu has a button to save and one to load.
If an enemy spots Corvo or Emily strangles an enemy instead of choking them unconscious, players can just load up the most recent save (hopefully a quick save done right before).

A usually breezed-through aspect of gaming can be picking up various notes and lore strategically placed or carefully hidden throughout the levels. Uniquely, in Dishonored 2, these juicy bits of information can provide a purpose from time to time.
Taking a beat to read through these can offer a deeper understanding of the characters' relationships and the social and geographical environment. Additionally, these pages can contain locations for keys for unlocking doors and combinations to safes.

6Black Market
On almost every mission, players can visit ablack marketto not only restock ammo but purchase upgrades and unique items. Similarly, nearly every black market has a rune or bone charm for sale, which does count towards the tally of collectibles at the end of the level.

Black markets can also have area-specific items, like notes with information obtained nowhere else and keys to open locked doors. If one does not mind a high Chaos level, there is also the option of taking out the merchant and robbing the establishment.
5Alternative Paths
Like many other games, dealing with the enemies is a central component of playing Dishonored 2. However, unlike most games, each level has multiple paths players can take from point A to point B. If fighting directly through is not the preferred way, some buildings can be used as access to another area. Emily’s teleport move can be used to reach escalated points, open windows, and balconies, usually out of enemy eye line. There are also ditches and bodies of water to use for transportation or hiding.
4The Heart
Some items in each level are easily spotted and grabbed, while others are locked away or hidden in plain sight. Equipping the heart will fill the view with icons labeling where a collectible is with a meter number of the distance between it and Emily/Corvo.
This tool can be extra handy when planning an indirect route to a destination or looking back to see if anything was missed before moving on. When close to an object, the heart will glow brighter and beat faster.
3Distractions
With so many other cool weapons and skills, using simple distractions can be underutilized or even forgotten. However, in Dishonored 2, timely distractions can get players out of a real jam. Between Emily and Corvo, there are various abilities to divert enemies' attention.
In addition, items sprinkled throughout each level, such as glasses and bottles, can be thrown and mislead whoever is in the way. Alarms and walls of light can also be rigged to target enemies instead of the player.
2Dark Vision
A favorite ability to have in video games is seeing enemies through walls and surfaces, like Joel’s enhanced hearing in The Last Of Us. Luckily, such a skill exists inDishonored 2, and thankfully, both Corvo and Emily have dark vision ability.
The dark vision power can also be upgraded to show the path a baddie is walking and which way they are looking. Using this is extremely useful for stealth purposes and planting traps.
1Paintings
Paintings are an easily missed collectible during missions across Karnaca. They do not show up with the heart equipped and are not highlighted when the dark vision ability is activated. Per level, there is usually only one or two works of art to find, making locating them across the winding and weaving areas a smidgen more difficult.
The saving graces are their size and vibrancy. The prized paintings are much bigger than the other miscellaneous objects on the walls, the subject is more apparent, and the colors are bolder and pop against the somber atmosphere.
