Since Superman arrived in his hometown, downtown Cleveland, for the filming of the first major DCU release, there have been several on-set images that have been floating over the internet. This has led to fans finally getting a glimpse at David Corenswet’s Superman suit in proper lightning.

But apart from getting a peek at the new suit, which sees the return of the iconic trunks, the new reveals from the set also confirm the inclusion ofThe Winter Soldierstar Frank Grillo. While Grillo is set to voice Rick Flag Sr. in the first DCU release, following these new leaks, it’s clear he’ll make his live-action DCU debut inSuperman.

Frank Grillo doesn’t seem to be a big fan of superheroes in blue. Known for taking on Captain America on the elevator inThe Winter Soldier, the actor can be seen arrestingDavid Corenswet‘s Superman from the new on-set footage. While Grillo is also set to appear inPeacemaker season 2, considering that Gunn’s priority currently involvesSuperman, it’s safe to assume the 2025 film will mark his live-action DCU debut.

But prior to making his live-action appearance, theBoss Levelstar will kickstart the new universe withCreature Commandos, which will mark the official beginning of this new chapter later this year. In addition to him, another figure, who is dressed in complete black, can be seen accompanying Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. in Superman’s arrest.

Although guesses about the character have been ranging from Ultraman to Ulysses and anything in between, we’ll have to wait until something official comes from Gunn to know it for certain.

Following the actor’s previous statements regarding his future in the DCU,Frank Grillo‘s inclusion in numerous DC projects comes as no surprise. Grillo, who has been pretty vocal about his excitement to join the new chapter of DC, led byJames Gunnand Peter Safran, previously confirmed that they have“got some amazing stuff planned in the next year or two”.

WithThe Purgestar now already confirmed to appear in two major projects outside ofCreature Commandos, it’s safe to assume his role in the DCU will be more crucial than one might’ve assumed.
