It also features his downward spiral and how he denies all the allegations after a string of legal battles. But where is Joe Francis now? Let’s take a look at his life in exile, and see if his empire has crumbled under the weight of all these controversies.

Joe Francis’ Life in Exile and the Peacock Docuseries

After fleeing the United States following a 2013 conviction for assault and false imprisonment, Joe Francis has been living in exile in Mexico. According to the documentary’s executive producer, Scaachi Koul, Francis has been leading a lavish lifestyle, and she revealed more about the same in an interview withVariety.

It’s a beautiful house, I’ll say that. He lives a very glamorous existence certainly, insofar as a proverbial exile would go. I mean, it is a nice life. I do think he is into a lot of myth-making. I think he believes in the story he is telling about how his company came to be and his role as the scion of it or the arbiter of this particular kind of culture.

Koul interviewed him for nine hours, and this became the foundation for the docuseries, which delves deeper into the tactics he allegedly used to film the content forGirls Gone Wild. Even today, Francis maintains his innocence, but the series paints a different picture.

The fall of Joe Francis began after a series of allegations came to light, which reportedly included filming of underage girls, coercion, and financial disputes. He also faced many lawsuits, including the case from Panama City Beach, Florida (viaYahoo Entertainment). According to Koul, he still thinks about this particular event, as per what she said in the same interview.

But as for the interview, when I got in touch with him I said it was because I saw there were irregularities with what happened in Panama City, and I think he still thinks about that. He really views the cases that he had there as kind of the epicenter for how the company started to fall apart because there were so many issues that he kept getting brought back there. And he was scared of jail.

The Peacock docuseries further uncovers allegations where former employees claimed they were instructed to ply women with alcohol to secure explicit footage. However, Francis has painted himself as a victim of systematic justice in this scenario but most people do not buy his story. As he continues to live in exile, his legacy is no longer one of entrepreneurial success but of exploitation and controversy.
