Kit Harington remained resolute in his stance about Daenerys Targaryen being a bad person inGame of Thrones. After his lover became the Mad Queen, Jon Snow was convinced he should end her tyranny to protect the people of Westeros.

The ending of the hit HBO show drew mixed reactions from fans, but the majority have expressed dismay over the death of Daenerys. Still, the actor believed all the signs were there and fans just had to look closely.
Kit Harington Feared Killing Daenerys Targaryen Would Be Seen As An Act Of S*xism
Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen was set up to ascend the Iron Throne after overcoming every single obstacle in her journey. Now that she’s built herself an empire, she has become an unstoppable force. With a dragon at her command and an army at her back, King’s Landing would have been hers for the taking.
But the betrayal and loss of key allies were too much to bear for the Targaryen queen. This caused her descent into madness, and upon seeing the Red Keep, the home of her family for centuries, it only provoked her anger. The moment she unleashed her wrath on King’s Landing, that was when she finally turned into the Mad Queen.

Kit Haringtonpointed this out in his conversation withEntertainment Weekly. “She does some terrible things,” he said, but what’s more important was the fact that people were in denial of it because they love Daenerys. “You knew something was wrong. You’re culpable, you cheered her on,” the actor told fans.
Which is whyJon Snowwas adamant to right the wrong, even if it was against his feelings. Harington feared the last two episodes would come off as s*xist in the eyes of fans. The season finale saw two powerful women, Daenerys and Cersei, face their deaths. The actor remarked that not because they are women, they are always the good ones. “Dany is not a good person,” he argued.

Daenerys’ arc inSeason 8was a rollercoaster of events that led to her downfall. She went in with good intentions, but when her plans got thwarted and the people she thought were loyal to her turned their backs, she lost her grip. And then, she finds this man who loves her, but not enough to support her ambitions, eventually leading to her destruction.
Emilia Clarke Didn’t ThinkGame Of ThronesWas S*xist
One of the long-enduring criticisms ofGame of Throneswas its alleged s*xist approach to female characters. Yes, many scenes depict violence and prejudice against women, but does the ending – the deaths of two powerful female rulers – fall in the same category?
“I’m avoiding it”: Emilia Clarke Cannot Get Herself to Watch House of the Dragon Despite its Skyrocketing Fame
Clarke defended the show and toldHarper’s Bazaarthat it pains her “to hear people taking Thrones out of context with anti-feminist spin” as it is a show that depicts “women in so many different stages of development”. The actress reiterated that the female figures in the series have varied ranges, attesting to Harington’s claim that women aren’t supposed to be good all the time.
