Cyberpunk 2077is one of the biggest releases of this generation. CD Projekt Red took a freaking nine-year period to make this game a reality. Now, among the buzz ofThe Witcher 4, this open-world title still holds a special place among the millions of fans. However, the journey ofCyberpunkwasn’t that smooth initially.

The game stumbled right after its launch in December 2020. After its release, the title was infected with bugs and glitches, making all the efforts in the long eight years go in vain. That’s when thePhantom LibertyDLC comes in, which revivedCyberpunk‘s fortunes in September 2023. Now, it seems the end of the era of this popular open-world title.
No More Developers Are Working on Cyberpunk 2077
In recentfinancial results, CD Projekt Red has revealed that not a single developer in the company is working onCyberpunk 2077anymore. As things stand, all the aspirations regarding the game are complete, and the company is looking forward to working on other titles.

A chart shared by the development company on X shows the number of developers working on different titles. It showcases that on June 02, 2025, there were at least 17 developers working onCyberpunk 2077out of the total 627 developers at CD Projekt Red.

And now it seems there is nothing more to work on, as as of July 20, 2025, there hasn’t been a single person working on this game for the first time in more than a decade.

After a disastrous beginning,Cyber Punk 2077pulled off a grand comebackafter the game-changing Update 2.0, which brought thePhantom LibertyDLC. This expansion came with some highly wanted and unique features, loved by all the fans, like a new perk system, advanced AI, and many more.
Then came Patch 2.1, Patch 2.11, and Patch 2.12, which fixed a lot of the remaining issues, including the myriad bugs, and that’s how it all wrapped up forCyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red is looking for the sequel to this game, codenamedOrion, with 56 people working on it.

Is The Witcher 4 on the cards?
In that X post shared by CD Projekt Red, the majority of developers are seen working on a project, which is shown by the huge green part of the graph. As of June 24, 2025, a total of 407 developers are working onThe Witcher 4: Polaris.
A few months ago, on February 29, 403 developers were working on Polaris too, which shows CD Projekt Red is quite serious about this title. 407 out of 630 developers on a single project indicate that the development process is in full flow.

However, the interesting part is that the company hasn’t yet fully moved into production regarding Polaris. In a video accompanying CD Projekt Red’s latest financial results, CEO Piotr Nielubowicz stated the same.
The Witcher 4‘s swift development makes fans relieved, as this title has been long anticipated by them. On the other hand, the end of the legendary journey ofCyberpunk 2077truly brings tears to the eyes of all the fans.
