Astro Bot’s Trailer Is Drastically Outperforming PlayStation’s New Shooter ‘Concord’

PlayStation fans are making it known which newly announced title they’re more excited about.

Concord’s Star Child Shares More In Common With Guardians Than The Star-Lord Nod

The nearly five-minute cinematic trailer could have easily been a sequel to James Gunn’s space adventure trilogy under the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vale, Haymar, Star Child, Lennox, and the robot 1-Off were introduced as playable characters operating as mercenaries, or ‘Freegunners’, withOverwatch-styled 5v5 mechanics.

As part of PlayStation’s live-service lineup, Concord as a fresh IP was exciting to most. However, the carpet was pulled when the run-of-the-mill shooter gameplay was brought into the spotlight, causing several onlookers to lose interest immediately. The greed behind microtransactions has aggravated several gamers recently, therefore, Concord’s dip into the live-service genre was a kick in the stomach.

Guardians of the Galaxy Review

Another gripe that immediately surfaced was Star Child’s brute design, looking like a cross between Drax the Destroyer and Hellboy. However, players who dived into the 2021 Guardians title noticed another comparison to one of the game’s boss duos, the Blood Brothers.

YouTuber @EndymionYT knew Star Child’s appearance looked familiar and highlighted Concord’s ‘derivative’ designs, calling it ‘poor slop’. Others accused Concord of ‘ripping off’ Guardians, and some even called the new shooter ‘Plagiarism of the Galaxy’.

Garek and Ronson Blood put up a fight against the dynamic team at the end of Chapter 6: Between a Rock and a Hard Place, appearing as Lady Hellbender’s bounty hunters. Built like the side of a house, the brothers' Red Hulk-like physique is very similar to Star Child’s minus the prism headlights, and social media users wanted to make sure the similarities were aired.
