Sound the bells y’all! It seems like Round 2 of Jake Gyllenhaal’sRoad Houseis just around the corner. Coming from the house of Amazon MGM Studios, the movie was considered by the executives a hit, garnering over 80 million views in a very short span of time. This success has seen the studio back the movie for another rodeo as they have already announced that a sequel is in the works. But the creators would be wise to steer clear of a few facets that the first movie got wrong.

The success ofRoad House

Road House, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor, was a remake of the 1989 movie of the same name. The OGRoad Housewas quite the phenomenon, with Patrick Swayze essaying the role of Patrick Dalton, the protagonist. TheNightcrawlerstar really had big shoes to fill. And he did.

The 2024 flick was able to recreate the success enjoyed by its predecessor, attracting a record-breaking 50 million worldwide viewers over its first two weekends. No wonder it earned the moniker of being Amazon MGM Studios’“most-watched produced film debut ever on a worldwide basis.”

Yet, one crew member was not very delighted with these stats.

Road HouseDirector Doug Liman was not satisfied because of one reason

The movie was streamed on Amazon Prime Video from 21st May. But this was not without protest.Road Housedirector Doug Liman was not exactly happy when he learned that the movie was not for a theatrical release. But Jake Gyllenhaal came around to set the record straight.

TheSpider-Man: Far from Homestar toldTotal Film,

“I adore Doug’s tenacity, and I think he is advocating for filmmakers, and film in the cinema, and theatrical releases. But, I mean, Amazon was always clear that it was streaming. I just want as many people to see it as possible.”

With the sequel ofRoad Housearound the corner, the last thing the fans want to see is a controversy. All they want is Jake Gyllenhaal and McGregor in action at the theatre.

Fans were tired of witnessing the controversy unfold this year. Word has it that the people behind the movie had a clear choice – take $60 million and get a theatrical release, or walk away with $85 million. We all know what choice they made.

I’m glad they’re making a sequel. They should release the sequel in the theaters, i mean the film was literally made to be watched in theaters, they could’ve made so much money.

How about theater 1st this time?! Jake deserved this for his hard work and performance. Theater then streaming. Word of mouth after theatrical release would have sent this to solid Prime ratings. Fallout releases all episodes too? Hire me to fix these decision

It is anybody’s guess whether or not the sequel will share the same fate asRoad House. But fans are dead excited to see theSource Codestar fight it out on the big screen. There is no harm, but the question remains. will Amazon (and the people behind the film) agree with the call to go to the theatres first? Only time will tell.
