The first season ended on a huge cliffhanger with Drolta’s death.Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2was released on January 16th, 2025, and it showed the characters dealing with the final events of the first season. This time around, the show started out slow but picked up pace with subsequent episodes.

Yeah, I would say the vast majority of our notes are: “Can we just line up with the games a little bit more?”

Throughout the production, the directors were looking for ways to make the story more resonant for fans. They approached the show asCastlevaniagame fans themselves. This made them wonder if they could align the story more with the narrative that fans experience in the game. The games thatNocturneis based on areCastlevania: Rondo of BloodandCastlevania: Symphony of the Night.

By this point, we know that even though the directors were trying to sync the game’s story with the show, they took a lot of creative liberties with it. This allowed fans to experience the characters in an entirely new light. However, the changes also led to a mixed reception of the series.

Castlevania: Nocturneisfar from perfect and has some evident flaws. The plot of the show strays from the storyline in the game. The changes include race-swaps for some central characters and completely different characterisations. For instance, Tera and Maria are extremely different from their game counterparts.

Maria’s development is receiving a lot of love from fans, whereas the change in Tera wasn’t as well received during season 1. The animation is somewhat inconsistent but the good moments look stunning, and the soundtrack is undoubtedly a highlight. Everything except for the character names is different from the game, andwhile some fans are not happy with the changes, others are eagerly anticipating what comes next.
