After talking about thelong-awaited multiplayer reveal ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfarefor quite some time now, Activision and Infinity Ward finally lifted the curtain today on what this year’s edition of the annualized franchise will have in store.
This new gameplay footage forModern Warfareshows off many of the differences in this year’s title compared to past years. If you didn’t already know,Modern Warfareboasts a new engine which looks to enhance the overall experience by a fair amount. The visuals look far more impressive than before. While it seems to have now been upgraded with a fresh coat of paint though, the multiplayer gameplay seems to have retained the same identity of past titles with some changes here and there.
In addition to revealing this multiplayer gameplay today, Activision also announced that a beta forCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be taking place before release as well. The beta will be spread out across two weekends with the first weekend being exclusive to PS4 players. Considering Activision’s partnership with Sony, this is nothing new and shouldn’t come as a surprise. This open beta phase for PS4 users will start in Early Access for some on September 12 and 13th, before then opening up to everyone else on September 14 and lasting until the 16th.
The following weekend, the beta will be focused on crossplay with other platforms. Again, an Early Access phase for some will go live a few days beforehand on September 19 and 20th. Then from September 21 through the 23rd, all of those on PS4, Xbox One, and PC will be able to try things out for themselves.
