Valorantfeatures six different Sentinels and all of them have their own set of unique abilities that allow them to focus on defensive play while supporting their teammates. Recently, a player pointed out how Cypher is one of the most overpowered agents in the game because of his Trapwire ability.

Cypher has been in the game since the very beginning and over the years, the agent has received various balancing updates, but as of now, he is the best Sentinel agent in the game. His abilities are so powerful that players should expect to see a nerf in the future, as many popular agents inValoranthave been nerfed in the past because of their abilities.
Cypher’s Trapwire Ability Makes Him an Overpowered Sentinel Agent in Valorant
A post on theValorantsubreddit has pointed out that Cypher’s Trapwire is by far the best Sentinel ability in the game.
“Is he stupid?”: Even Today, Valorant Fans Troll One Agent That Literally Tells the Enemy Team How to Dodge His Ult
This ability allows players to place a destructible and covert tripwire. When an enemy crosses this tripwire, they will be tethered, revealed, and dazed.
It’s insane how this tripwire functions and on top of this, players get two of these to stop the enemies. The player also pointed out that the rest of the abilities, Spy Cam and Cyber Cage, aren’t even underpowered for the Trapwire to compensate for them. All these abilities and the Ultimate make Cypher a great Sentinel agent.

Will Cypher Get Nerfed in the Future?
This Reddit post sparked a lot of debates, as players started wondering if Cypher needs a balancing update to make the game fair for everyone else.

While many believe that Cypher’s Trapwire needs to be toned down, many believe that the agent is perfect and doesn’t require a nerf.
Many fan-favorite agents in the past have been nerfed to the ground by Riot.Reyna is a good example asshe went from being the best duelist in the game to the worst in just one update. Players can expect the same for Cypher, as Riot doesn’t hesitate to balance out agents depending on players’ feedback.

It’s not like Cypher’s abilities haven’t been nerfed, as Riot made some changes to the agent earlier this year in Patch 8.08. Trapwire reactivation time was increased from 1 second to 2 seconds, and Trapwire slow was reduced from 2 to 1.25 seconds.
