Blue LockSeason 1 was actually quite successful in storytelling, having a diverse cast that impressed audiences around every turn. However, with the release of its 2nd season, things have gone a bit out of hand. The biggest issue originated from its abundant use of CGI in some of the most iconic scenes from the manga, making those look like a PowerPoint presentation.

But hopes are still there! Why? It’s because one major character from the manga seems to have a promising start in the anime adaptation, and fans cannot wait for his most iconic moments to be animated. And this might not come out as that surprising because it’s Ryusei Shidou we are talking about!

Ryusei Shidou Might Just Save TheBlue LockAnime

The highly criticized 2nd season ofBlue Lockmight just find redemption, and Ryusei Shidou would likely be the key to its salvation. As the match against Japan U-20 approaches (to be released on November 9th) the animation team has a golden opportunity to regain the series’ reputation. If done flawlessly, this legendary matchup might revive the anime, and the exceptional skills of Ryusei Shidou would surely take center stage.

Ryusei Shidou

It wouldn’t be too far off to say that Shidou is the perfect contender that coach Ego wants in his strikers. Apart from being a contestant in theBlue Lockproject, he is also the center forward for Paris X Gen. However, his motivation to keep pushing forward is not to become the world’s best striker but to live a life to his fullest. This unique mindset certainly makes him the most interesting candidate to come out of the original 300 forwards selected for theBlue LockProject.

Shido Perfectly Fits Into TheBlue LockProject’s Ideal Striker Profile

Ryusei Shidoupresents a very rare mix of physical superiority, scoring ability on instinct, and philosophical principles specific to football. What mostly stands out is his extraordinary physical prowess which has long helped him to overpower opponents and even manage to get into open positions for scoring. Notably, his drive shots are just top-notch!

Shido even excels at scoring from some of the most challenging positions, including midair shots. That kind of instinctive movement and placement to create space fits exactly what thisBlue Lockproject is trying to achieve. Also, his insane speed coupled with unnatural athleticism is capable of turning opponents’ momentum against them. His signature move, “No-Look Goal” acts as a testament to his fine and acute reflexes for which defenders never anticipate a goal from off angles.

Blue Lock Season 2’s Awful Animation Quality Might Finally Make Sense, It Was Never a Priority to Begin With

One can however find this character quite unrealistic, as he is never playing a predictable game because most moves he does would only turn out to be one step ahead of others. It’s quite ironic that Shidou is such a gifted player even though there is no traditional ambition that drives him to become the best in the world. But also for this exact same reason, he has got all the potential to revive the anime’s lost charm now.
