In recent years,Blue Lockhas gained immense popularity as it has taken the sports genre by surprise. When the series’ first chapter hit the shelves all the way back in 2018, it became an instant hit that took a different approach to football, where it decided to focus on the most exciting position of the striker.

However, that does not mean that the show would not show moments of teamwork in the manga and anime, where they would show instances of great teamwork. Though the second season of the anime has taken a hit in popularity, the source material remains close to the fans.

The series continues to narrate the story of Isagi Yoichi growing as more of a team player; fans are curious if the series is nearing its end. To avert the anticipation, the creator of the series gave an update on when he will pull the curtains on the series.

Blue Lock might soon end

Muneyuki Kaneshiro Knows When and HowBlue LockWill End

Muneyuki Kaneshiro’s magnum opus takes a unique approach to football that surfed on the sensation of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and Japan’s phenomenal performance in the same tournament. Since then, it has been the title that has been on the name of every football fan.

Kaneshiro-Sensei’s series not only decides to feature a unique approach to playing aggressive football but also raises the stakes where defeat means calling it quits as a footballer. Hence, the series levels up the stakes of the series, making survival an absolute necessity to become the greatest egoist of the generation.

With the manga being around for 6 years, fans were curious about how long the title would stick around. This burning question was answered by the mangaka during his exclusive interview withAnimaniaviaReddit, where he was asked if he knew when the volume would end.

The manga creator mentioned how“the rough draft is fixed”and has even come up with a suitable“ending in mind.”He said,

Muneyuki Kaneshiro has planned Blue Lock’s ending

The rough draft is fixed and I also have the ending in mind, albeit very vaguely. But since I’m still thinking of things the characters are struggling with right now as I’m writing, I still have a lot to tell and can’t finish the story just yet. (laughs)

Though he has come up with a vague ending, he also emphasizes how the story might not just come to an end because of not having a concrete idea. He further added,

Blue Lock might just ruin the sports genre

I don’t know how many volumes there will be in the end, but once everything that needs to be drawn is drawn, I’ll finish the story without hesitation!

Though we may not know when exactly the curtain would be drawn on the manga, he does know how he developed the characters of the series.

Muneyuki Kaneshiro Explains Why He Chose To Make the Characters So Selfish

One of the key traits ofBlue Lockis how the series would stand out in the sea of titles is that the readers have often found its characters to be self-centric and selfish in some way. This was an interesting take, and fans have always been curious about what inspired the author to draw his characters like that.

Turns out, the Kaneshiro-Sensei created these characters after himself. In the same interview, he explained that his biggest weakness is how he can’t create characters who live for“someone else.”The major reason behind this would be that he is not the“selfless”type. He explained,

My biggest difficulty is creating characters who live for “someone else”. Simply because I am not that type myself. One could look at the motivation underlying a “selfless” mindset from another perspective, namely: “I’m great because I sacrifice myself for others!”

He further explained,

And suddenly selfless would be a selfish way of thinking again! So at the end of the day everyone lives somewhere “for themselves” – so why not let your ego run free? That’s cool! Those were my thoughts when I wrote it – and maybe that gave the work that characteristic touch.

Nevertheless, drawing characters based on himself has immensely boosted the series’ popularity, where fans love how they call the striker with the biggest ego to be the greatest player of all time.
