Each ending of Bloodborne is satisfying and offers a unique experience to players by giving a different conclusion to the story. The best way to experience the game’s beauty is by completing all the endings. However, if you are confused as to what each Bloodborne ending signifies, here’s your answer.

Waking From The Dream

This is the easiest ending to attain in Bloodborne. After defeating Mergo’s Wet Nurse, the hunter returns to the Hunter Dream to find the workshop on fire. After finding Gehrman in the field behind the workshop, he offers to kill you and finally end the dream. After seeing your character getting decapitated, you are then seen waking up to a sunrise of a much brighter and more lively-looking Yharnam.

This ending heavily implies that the entire game of Bloodborne does take place within a dream. Dying at the hands of Gehrman finally release the player and allows them to return to the real world and escape the nightmarish dream The Blood had trapped them in. This ending could also mean the exact opposite, having the player being killed from the real world and waking up in the afterlife while escaping the hell of the real world. This ending is also the easiest ending, as you are able to skip the last and the final optional boss. But, of course, if you opt for this, you also end up skipping and the best ending for a speedrunner.

Continuing The Dream

This ending is obtained by refusing Gehrman’s offer and fighting him to the death in the Hunters Dream. He serves as the new final boss of the game and fights much like your own character. After defeating Gehrman, an alien-looking monster comes from the moon and embraces the hunter before cutting away. The final cutscene then shows the Doll pushing your character now in a wheelchair like Gehrman.

This ending has you taking the place of Gehrman, having the Hunters Dream continue with your character now helping guide the new hunters that come through. Your character is now under the influence of the monster from the moon, and a new hunt begins.

The New Great One

To unlock this ending, players must find and consume three one-third umbilical cords in the world, then refuse Gehrman’s offer. After defeating Gehrman, the Moon Presence will come down and try to embrace the player. This time, a bright light knocks the Moon Presence back, beginning the fight with thetrue final boss of the game.

After defeating this final boss, a new cutscene plays, having the doll pick up an arms-length slug. This slug looks much like the skin of the Moon Presence and is called “Good Hunter” by the Doll. This ending has the hunter defeating the Moon Presence and being reborn as a new Great One. With the previous Great One being in charge of the dream, your character has now ascended to take its place and be in control of the Hunter’s Dream.
