An important aspect ofBlack Myth Wukongis picking up the right skills early so that progression becomes easy. During the first and second chapters of the game, many skills won’t be available to players. Hence, the best skills for the early game will likely differ from the final build, and as players progress in the game, they can adjust the skill tree according to their playstyle.

Best Skills for the Early Game in Black Myth Wukong

It’s fair to say thatBlack Myth Wukongisn’t just arandom adaptation of the Chinese classicJourney to the West.It is a well-nuanced game that blends traditional Chinese mythology with modern gameplay mechanics. It offers players many skill options, which can initially be overwhelming. The skill tree is divided into six branches: Foundation, Staff Stances, Mysticism, Alteration Strand, and Transformations. Each branch is further divided into sub-categories where players can allot points to specific skills according to their liking.

In the early stages ofBlack Myth Wukong, players will likely deal with the Foundation branch, as it’s the most basic one. Simian Agility in the Stamina (Foundation) category is highly recommended, as it allows players to dodge for less stamina cost. Keep in mind that the game doesn’t have a block or parry feature, so it becomes important to pick up a skill that lets players avoid incoming attacks. Alternatively, players can pick Deft Evasion, which increases the distance travelled while in dodge motion.

If you continue to build on the Stamina category of Foundation, you will be able to unlock the Composure skill, which allows you to dodge while performing light attacks. In the Martial Arts section of the Foundation, you’re able to pick up Swift Engage, which increases the distance of your light attacks’ initial engagement. This pairs up very well with the Composure skill.

Continuing in the Martial Arts section, pick up Effortless Finisher, which increases the character’s Focus when the second move of a light attack hits the enemy. This is especially good in early games, as players won’t be used to the right combos, so the skill automatically ramps up the damage without any extra effort.

When it comes to the Survival section of Foundation, the choices will entirely depend on your playstyle and preference. The Survival tree deals with increasing health, stamina, and damage, so allot points according to your needs.

Staff Stances and Other Important Skills in Black Myth Wukong

Do not overlook the other skill trees apart from the Foundation one inGame Science’sBlack Myth Wukong. Sure, the Foundation tree will be your go-to for the early game, but the rest are equally important, if not more. That said, recommending specific skills in another category can be a little complicated since you’ll have to curate them according to the play style.

There are three available Stance trees that players can pick from. Smash Stance is the overall most rounded one, offering a mix of both good offence and defence. The Resolute Counterflow skill is a must-pickup if you are going with this Stance, as it allows you to use heavy attacks in between light attack combos.

Pillar Stance is the most unconventional one, as it elevates the character up in the air at the end of a combo. Utilizing the Stance to its maximum potential can be tricky, especially for new players. On the other hand, Thrust Stance magically extends the staff like a beam, increasing the range of attack.

There are many other skill trees that players can go for, as mentioned above. However, putting points early in Mysticism, Alteration, Strand, and Transformation is generally not recommended, as you won’t be able to maximize your potential. Furthermore, many of these won’t be accessible to new players to begin with.
