One of the most popular practices of “yeeting” dead characters inBaldur’s Gate 3will no longer be the same after a recent change made by the developers. The Baldur’s Gate 3 community often comes up with creative ways to make use of the game’s mechanics, and this is one of the many hilarious things players do to vent their frustration on certain characters in the game.
As highlighted in aReddit postby user JurassicLiz, a highly anticipated update for Baldur’s Gate 3 was released yesterday and has altered how characters are affected after being “yeeted” by players, among numerous other changes. Instead, the characters will now “float around as resurrectable Soul Echo”, which is what normally happens when a companion dies.

The way players used to pull this off was by putting the dead character in a container and throwing it into a chasm, causing the character to be permanently destroyed. As hilarious as it might sound, this was being used more often than not, and players are actually disappointed that this is no longer possible. But, with that being said, fans have found it hilarious that not only was this concern addressed in the patch notes, but the developers even used the term “yeeting.”
Now considering the extent of this practice, one might be wondering which companion is the one players had to take such extreme measures against. Well, if you hadn’t guessed it already, it was none other than Gale. As far as the reason for this intense hate towards Gale itself is considered, there are actually a myriad of them.
Ranging from Gale’s hunger for artifacts to his backstory, the characters seem to have never gotten into the good books of the community. The opinions are so extreme against him, that players are now considering following the same process to kill him, and since now they can revive him after the patch, they plan to do that and repeat the process all over again. Seems like Gale isn’t going to get a chance to catch his breath, quite literally.
