How Do You Speak With Animals?
There are a few ways that you can speak with animals in the game. Here’s a list of them all.
Bards, Druids, Clerics (Nature Domain), Rangers, Paladins (Oath of the Ancients), and Barbarians (Wildheart) can all learn the Speak With Animals Spell. Additionally, Forest Gnomes will automatically have the Spell.

In the swamp near Auntie Ethel’s Hut
If youkill Auntie Ethel, the frog will lead you to its buried treasure nearby.
Cats (Around Baldur’s Gate)

The cats roaming around Baldur’s Gate are an interesting bunch. One wants you to be its mother, one thinks it is in a film, and another can begiven to Derryth as a pet.

Commander Lighfeather
This pigeon is locked in a war with the local cats. While it is hilarious, it is also required to complete the quest “Find The Missing Letters.”
Corrina The Squirrel
The Emerald Grove nearAlfira
Many fans have searched for Corinna due to the fact that her voice actor is the girlfriend ofShadowheart’svoice actor. Plus, it is a funny scene if you meet her.
Deep Rothe
The Deep Rothe in Grymforge are being abused. If you speak to them, they will help you kill their owners and clear the rubble for you.
This cat isYenna’spet and will join camp if you allow Yenna to come along. If you speak to it, you can learn a little more about Yenna and her lost mother.

This cat is an odd one. He will tell you he distrusts Isobel because she won’t give him milk.Astarionalso seems to have an affinity for the cat, being rather interested in it.
Intellect Devourer (Us)

Us is thebrain-like creatureyou will first meet at the very beginning of the game. If you save it, you can meet it again in Act 2 and recruit it to your cause.

Owlbear Cave & Goblin’s Camp
If you speak to the Owlbear and kill it,you may keep its cubat your camp for the rest of the game.
Gauntlet of Shar
These rats are very weird at first and will tell you to leave. However, if you speak to them enough, you will learn they were actually a singular person at one point.
Near the Owlbear Cave
If you find Scratch, you can speak to him and learn that he is waiting for his owner to wake up. Unfortunately, you will know that the owner is dead and can offer Scratch a place at your camp. If you do, he will appear later on and stay with you.
Strange Ox
Emerald Grove, Last Light Inn, & Rivington
The Strange Ox is the strangest animal on this list, by far. It is unclear what it is, but,if you help it each time you meet it, you can obtain some interesting items. It will alsohelp in the final battle.

1 (if you’re playing Gale’s Origin) & 3 (all other playthroughs)
Tara is Gale’s cat and will give you some insight into the enigmatic Wizard. The cat will also sell some awesome items to you, making it worth it.
