TheBack to the Futurefranchise took the 80s and 90s by storm. One of the most successful trilogies of all time, the sci-fi movies brought a fresh and entertaining perspective to the genre. As such, its undying popularity even decades later is not really a surprise.

In light of that, calls for a reboot or sequel to the original movies can be heard pretty often from around the world. To be fair, Hollywood’s obsession with doing exactly that also plays a massive part in that.

In any case, many wondered when would theBack to the Futurefranchise hop on that trend to capitalize on the continued fan fervor around the classics. Interestingly, the movie’s screenwriter recently gave an update on that very subject. As it stands, fans couldn’t agree with him more.

Back to the Futurerefuses to bow down to an annoying Hollywood trend

As stated above, Hollywood is going through an interesting phase of rebooting, remaking, and producing spin-offs of every successful movie that ever existed.

While this has brought fresh perspectives to many old classics, it has also caused harm to others. For example, Disney’s bright idea tokeep capitalizing on theLion Kingfranchise has ruined it for many.

It probably won’t be long before others also meet the same fate. As such, fans have been waiting to hear similar news about aBack to the Future 4movie for a while. Especially as this is something many have asked and waited for since the $964 million franchise (The Numbers) concluded in 1990.

Well the movies’ crew was present at the recently held Saturn Awards, and they gave a much-awaited update on the matter. As perCollider, screenwriterBob Galespoke to the media noting their complete and utter disinterest in revisiting the franchise on the big screen again.

People always say when are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say f*ck you. And you can quote me on this.

According to Gale, he is more than satisfied with the way the trilogy has concluded and feels no interest in coming up with a story for the sake of it. Moreover, they had also made aBack to the Futuremusical to satisfy fans’ demands, and plan to stop it at that.

We made three terrific movies and people kept asking for more Back to the Future so we made Back to the Future: The Musical, which Chris and Lea have attended on several occasions… We’re taking it around the world.

Although he was vocal about making aBack to the Future 4, Gale’s love for the movies haven’t lessened at all. He noted in the same interview how enjoyable it is for him to work with the franchise“for the rest of my life”.

Some fans hail Bob Gale’s decision aboutBack to the Futurefranchise’s future

As stated before, generations of fans have called for aBack to the Future 4movie throughout the decades. Hence, it is unsurprising that the visionary franchise continues to gain fans even in today’s world of technologically backed sci-fi movies.

What is surprising, however, is the fact that many fans readily accepted Bob Gale and the rest of theBack to the Futurecrew’s attitude regarding the future of the franchise.

Many commented that the original movies were masterpieces, and should remain untouched. Others noted in agreement thatnot every movie required a sequel.

Agree. The trilogy is good as it is. More would spoil it.

Leave it don’t touch it ever it’s a masterpiece how it is

Perfect response. There should never be any more sequels, reboots, and remakes for Back To The Future. It should remain untouched.

Good. We do not need a fourth installment. Not every franchise needs a legacy sequel.

The Back to the Future movies do NOT need a reboot or a legacy sequel. They are perfect classics, and should stay that way

If anything, fans’ attitude towards the update regardingBack to the Future 4shows how tired most have become of the constant remakes, sequels, or spin-offs. While it is fun once in a while, too much of a good thing truly ends up ruining it for many.
