Platinum Games has confirmed that Babylon’s Fall will be shut down on February 28th, 2023 at 1AM PT. After this date, the game will no longer be playable.

“It is with deep regret to inform you that we will be terminating the game’s service on Tuesday, 27 July 2025”, the statement from Babylon’s Fall developers Platinum Games reads.

The developers also confirmed that they would be cancelling the large-scale updates that were planned for the future. Platinum went on to confirm future plans for Babylon’s Fall by stating that “Season 2 will run until Tuesday, 30 June 2025 as scheduled, and the Final Season will begin with the maintenance scheduled on the same day. This Final Season is the period during which you may earn the ranking rewards of Season 2”.

A full event schedule, as well as the official statement by Platinum Games, can be found onBabylon’s Fall’s official website. As a way of expressing their gratitude to all players, the developers also announced that they will be implementing as many events and other initiatives as possible between now and the termination of Babylon’s Fall.

Babylon’s Fall only launched earlier this year, but after receiving extremely negative reviews from both critics and fans, the game was quickly branded as a failure. As reported by VGC, Babylon’s Fall saw less than 700 people playing on Steam when it released back in February.

A vastly lower number compared to Square Enix’s other live service title, Marvel’s Avengers, which saw a concurrent player count of roughly 28,000 on release day. Despite the much higher player count, Marvel’s Avengers was also a disappointing release for Square Enix.

At the time of writing, Babylon’s Fall has a “mixed” review rating on Steam, with only 267 reviews in total.

Once the game’s servers are terminated next year, all gameplay data will be deleted. Babylon’s Fall will also be pulled from sale, both physically and digitally, following the publication of today’s announcement.
