Game maps come in many varieties. Some may be smaller maps that you transition to at different points in the game, while other games go for a large open world — resulting in a massive scale when calculated out.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: How To Heal & Get More Elixir

Keeping Basim’s health up can be quite tricky in AC Mirage, but here’s a guide to help you understand healing and the use of Elixir!

Some of these maps have been large open areas with vast distances to travel by mount, others have had you sailing naval vessels through mass expanses between destinations.

10Frontier - Assassin’s Creed 3 (1.41 km2)

Assassin’s Creed 3brought with it dense forests with plenty of trees to leap between. This would lead to more naturally occurring aerial assassinations than ever before. Even though this terrain featured a very open area feel, there was no sensation of “empty space.”

This allowed players to move around and enjoy themselves at all times, despite large areas of dense terrain. These sprawling woods also had plenty of wildlife to satisfy Assassin’s Creed 3’s hunting aspects.

9Paris - Assassin’s Creed Unity (2.40 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Unitytook the franchise to the heart of France during a very infamous point in history, the French Revolution. This map didn’t have the sensation of sailing the seas or roaming vast wilderness environments as seen in past games. This iteration gave players a more civilized city structure to move around it.

There were lots of iconic architectural structures, such as the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. These iconic locations immediately made players want to climb up to the very top just so they could “leap of faith” from it.

8London - Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (3.70 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Syndicatepushed city exploration further than any previous series entry, with lots of memorable moments. Taking in the sights while perching on one of the game’s many chimneys made for a unique experience. London made for a great setting with plenty of visual esthetics to work with, like misty streets and smoggy skies.

The setting also lent itself to unique situations, such as brawling with street thugs. The setting was filled with people trying to make it through the hustle and bustle of a busy day.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s Baghdad sees a massive spike in size compared to the previous entries on this list. While the original Assassin’s Creed would allowed for movement between major cities, those were all separate maps. The more open-world nature of Mirage sees players able to travel vast distances seamlessly. This is aided by the extreme advancement of gaming technology since the franchise began.

There are a myriad of environments to enjoy, and each of these locations conjure up nostalgic feelings for fans of Assassin’s Creed,Assassin’s Creed 2, and Assassin’s Creed 3.

6Norway - Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (22 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Valhallais the only entry on this list to feature two maps. This is due to both of them having such large portions of water among their landmasses. Norway featured a very rustic settlement structure when it comes to civilization. The setting often resembled something out of a folktale.

It is perfectly understandable for players to spend time running around the map, exploring higher ground to take in some of the most visually stunning views in the franchise.

5North Atlantic Sea - Assassin’s Creed Rogue (70 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Roguewas not the first Assassin’s Creed game to introduce sailing across vast seas to move between land masses. This would become a staple of the franchise that would cause explosive growth for the game’s map sizes.

Rogue’s North Atlantic Sea was not riddled with just islands, there were large sections of land that made up the bulk of the game’s experience. Smaller islands were strategically placed to enhance player exploration.

4Egypt - Assassin’s Creed Origins (80 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Origins' size was utterly staggering, especially when you factor in that it was mostly land mass and contained only a small portion of water. Players traversed wide open deserts in sweltering heat that could actually have a mechanical effect as players acquire heatstroke. This led to a whole new experience while traversing between major points in the game.

Maneuvering on pyramids was one thing, but to be able to take in, and climb, the Sphinx while it was still in it glory days was a wonderful treat for players that enjoy taking in detailed parts of the game’s environment.

3England - Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (120 km2)

Heading back to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, this game allowed players to sail out of Norway on your way to England. This map was almost 100 km2 larger than Norway. For perspective, the increase in size was almost as large as both Norway and Egypt combined.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Timeline Explained

Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s place in the series can be hard to lose track of; this article explains where it fits in the AC timeline.

This can be heavily attributed to the game’s expanded navel elements, which was to be expected in a game all about Vikings and their seafaring conquest to invade England. Norway and England, aesthetically, are very different landmasses, helping players get a better sense for their cultural differences.

2West Indies - Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (120 km2)

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flagwas responsible for being the game that ramped up the franchise’s focus on navel elements. This game was all about exploration and the many small islands that made up points of interest throughout the players’ experience with the game.

Everything used here would flow into Assassin’s Creed Rogue, although Rogue focused on a much smaller scale than Black Flag. This was one of themost beloved games in the franchiseand the announcement of a remake has many fans giving out differentopinions of how it should be handled.

1Greece - Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (256 km2)

Assassin’s Creed Odysseyreally went all out when it comes to map sizes. This map was more than twice the size of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and had more details in every single department. There was a large land mass with lots of nooks and rivers flowing into it.

The game was also filled with amazingly designed levels filled with stunning structures and architecture. Fans are in for a truly incredible visual treat while trekking through this behemoth of a map.
