10Use Your Electric Fences Effectively
Being able to effectively place your electric fences can turn the tide of any battle. Placing them along walls to block doorways and staircases creates distance between you and your enemy, preventing them from pushing your team. When placing fences, it’s important to think about every point of entry an enemy team can come from.
It’s imperative to place fences parallel to each other. One small misstep and you may create a gap that enemies can easily pass through, causing your team to get ambushed. It’s also crucial to plant them at the same elevation. Failing to do so allows anybody to crouch under them without setting them off.
9Use Your Ultimate Whenever You’re In A Fight
Wattson’s ultimate Interception Pylon comes in handy whether you’re in a fight or defending a position. Not only does it destroy enemy projectiles and grenades mid-air, but it can also restore allies’ shields too if they’re in the vicinity. Whenever your ultimate is ready, finding the right time to use it can be difficult, especially if you don’t have the proper place to put it.
That being said, you should throw down a Pylon whenever you get into a firefight. More than likely, you’ll come across an ultimate accelerant at one point or another. It’s important to place it out of an enemy’s line of sight to prevent it from being destroyed as soon as you place it.
8If You See An Ultimate Accelerant, Pick It Up
Following up from her Interception Pylon, picking up every ultimate accelerant is a must whenever playing Wattson. Wattson’s passive ability is Spark of Genius, which allows her to carry an additional ultimate accelerant in one inventory slot. Not taking advantage of this is just silly, and you’re only hurting your team by not doing so.
The Spark of Genius passive also allows Wattson to fully charge her ultimate to 100% no matter what the charge percent is on. This is the reason why it’s good to use your Pylon whenever you get into a fight. Not only does it benefit you, but your team as well.
7Use Wattson’s Kit Freely
Using your abilities freely is something that every Wattson player should get used to. With a character like Wattson, her abilities themselves can be used in any given scenario. If you’re looting a building, running away from a team, or even trapping a team within the storm, you should be placing your fences down. They recharge fairly quickly, so you don’t have to worry about cooldowns too much.
When playing Wattson, it’s normal to forget to use your abilities, whether you’re looting or in a fight. However, every moment you don’t is wasted potential as you can do so much to help out in fights.
6Take Advantage Of Fences That Are Crossed
When somebody crosses your fences, it shocks them, causing their screen to be disoriented, temporarily blinding them. Not only that, but you’ll get a ping on your screen pointing you in the direction of which fence was crossed. If you’re able to, start raining bullets on the enemy and punish them for trying to push you.
The fences that you place don’t de-spawn and are only destroyed when an enemy shoots or blows them up, or you exceed the limit of how many can be placed at a time. At times, you’ll find that fences you placed a while ago get crossed. This information is useful as it makes you aware of how far another team is from you.
5Wattson’s Shields Can Recharge Over Time
Another aspect of Wattson’s Spark of Genius is that it also lets Wattson’s shield recharge itself over time. The passive itself is useful as it allows you to save some inventory space on shield cells and hold other items such as medkits, grenades, ammo, and even ultimate accelerants.
As good as it may seem, it’s not recommended to solely rely on it as her shields recharge slowly. It is more useful after a fight, and you’re positive that no other team is around you. Instead of shielding up, you just let the passive do its job. Play smarter, not harder.
4You Set The Playing Field, Not Your Enemies
Controlling your fights is all about taking advantage of your fences and bringing the enemy into your territory. When getting into a fight, you set the rules. Wattson’s fences stay up until destroyed, so bringing the fight to them is useful in winning any battle.
A good Wattson can force a team to stop pushing and retreat from a fight. With that in mind, it allows you to push them in return and demolish your enemy. Being able to place fences quickly is required in order to pull this off. You can increase your sensitivity to help out with this. If you don’t get it right away, no worries. Practice makes perfect.
3Never Separate From Your Team
Staying with your team during fights is a must with Wattson. Wattson is a legend that can thrive off of being with others as she can help them out with her ultimate ability and fences. Other legends' abilities, such as Wraith’s portal or Crypto’s drone, can be an advantage to Wattson as they can give her mobility and scout out any incoming enemies.

Wattson doesn’t have any escape capabilities or much of an offensive kit. Her abilities themselves buff her teammates and allow them to thrive in any given firefight. There will be plenty of times when you’ll find yourself getting your team out of sticky situations.

Pairing up with other defensive Legends can make you feel like an unmovable force. With Wattson being able to lock down a building, just imagine what it would be like to have Legends such as Caustic or Bangalore on your team. Nobody would be able to get in or out.
Wattson’s fences, Caustic’s gas traps, and Bangalore’s shield and turret can create a literal deathtrap. Even though they’re all defense characters, combined it brings out all of their offensive capabilities. There are other Legends to pair with Wattson, so it’s up to you to find out who works best with her.

Nothing on this list will matter if you don’t enjoy playing Wattson. If you don’t have fun playing a character, it’s guaranteed that you won’t succeed in any match that you play. Given that she’s a defensive character, the fact that she doesn’t necessarily have any offensive abilities might be off-putting.
With her being a team player, if you find yourself in a solo queue more than often, then you might consider looking for a different legend. Wattson is a static defender who can benefit any team that she’s on. Coordinating with them can make playing as Wattson a blast.
