Mark Hamill might be a big name now in nerd culture today, but at the time of shooting Star Wars, the actor was very much still a newbie. One of the highlights for Hamill was sharing the stage with the legendary Alec Guinness, who played the role of an elderly Obi-Wan Kenobi.

However, there seemed to be something about American irreverence that Alec Guinness enjoyed on the set of Star Wars, and that was one of the many reasons why the actor was very miffed at being called ‘Sir Alec’ by Mark Hamill, so much so that the actor went so far as to slap the manners out of Hamill.
Mark Hamill kept calling Alec Guinness by his title
Mark Hamill, speaking in an interview, revealed thatAlec Guinnesshad given him a gentle slap on the face, given that Hamill had taken to calling the legendary actor Sir Alec rather than his proper name. Speaking about what Guinness told him after the slap, he said:
‘I want to be known by my name, not my accolade’. To which I replied ‘What do you want me to call you, Big Al?’, He loved that sort of stuff. He loves American irreverence.

Hamill also revealed how excited he was to be on set with Alec Guinness, much less sharing a scene with the actor. Guinness would play Obi-Wan in the original trilogy, before being succeeded by Ewan McGregor in the prequels and all subsequent appearances.
Star Wars needs to keep the promise that it made to fans
Despite having promised fans otherwise, the franchise seems to be very married to the idea of having the main conflict of the IP deal with the drama, trials, and tribulations surrounding the Skywalker family.

The franchise needs to leave the Skywalkers behind, focusing on other parts of the Galaxy with the same vigor. While there is a sense of familiarity with characters like Vader, and Luke popping up in multiple places, these characters now seem to be overused and feel like they are entering shows and films simply to guarantee theatre seats being filled.
The franchise might have an opportunity to explore other times and spaces in the history and future of the Galaxy, with a focus on shaping the universe in a manner in which new stories that are not beholden by canon can be told, without fans having to worry about the legacy of characters being tarnished.
